I got it done in Missisauga, X Rays were done at some outside centre, doctor fees plus medical with urine and all blood tests including 45 dollars for XRay came out to be around 225 dollars. I paid 20 dollars extra as i wanted the blood reports sent to me by post

We'll be paying $260 tomorrow in Brampton, there were a few cheaper options as well in Mississauga but they were all offering X-Ray at a different location.

So my friends, if the process has gone as far as requesting medicals, what are the chances of being rejected for not qualifying for common-law (not living together for a full year)? I'm assuming they would have checked that before going through the whole process right? We did live together for a full year, just not conventionally (we traveled on our bikes for the first 3 months and wild-camped before finding a permanent place to rent where we have been living at... so we only had pictures, facebook/instagram posts with time stamps to prove that we were together during that time (we came up with a very fun timeline with flight bookings, pictures, warmshower (couchsurfing for cyclists) reviews.

So if we got medical request, are we in the clear?

I am wondering the same. There has been no movement since we sent our application in July and now we suddenly received a medical exam request. The whole application is still under review with no other updates whatsoever.

  1. We received your application for permanent residence on July 08, 2019.
  2. We sent you medical instructions on November 23, 2019. To avoid delays, please provide us the information requested in the letter as soon as possible. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
So very strange, not sure what to think about it, but I hope it's good news!

I managed to call up the doctor here for the medical exam to book an appointment and yeah the cost was averaging around what everyone else was saying so that made it atleast less of a shock, it's going to be $330 for me which includes the photos + x-ray / blood work and I think they said urine too. :)

yeah they do urine too. The physician assistant lady who did it for me, did the analyzing in front of me and told me then and there that the reports are normal.

Love this! Sorry I don't have an answer for you. But I wanted to say that my partner and I also had an unconventional common-law partnership! We are cycle tourers and travelers too and a lot of our relationship has been spent wild camping in tents/living in a van/hotels/etc. I wish you the best of luck :)

I have a question on how the OWP serves as an extension to the temporary resident visa (TRV). So my spouse is on a TRV and her Visa stamp expired (it has been more than 6 months). Is having a passport with an expired TRV + OWP enough for travel? Or is another document/stamp required now after the OWP has been obtained?
TRV serves as a visa to enter back to Canada. After obtaining OWP you must apply for TRV if travelling.

That's awesome! Whats your favourite cycling trip? We cycled from Toronto to Los Angeles (over 5000km) 2 summers ago, and 1 summer ago we cycled across Europe (Belgium to southern Italy/Rome).

Sorry for interrupting this amazing cycling trip conversation - Anyone got any updates on your OWP ? It has been 5 months for me :(

Does anyone know if you’re supposed to get an email notification that the background check has started?
When I signed into the CIC we ate to view details of our PR application, under Background Check it read: “We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information” and not the “We started processing” marked in the google spreadsheet. The wording is a little different but I presume it’s the same thing...
