Thanks for the wishes! Merry Christmas to you too @tobs! I was away on a resort stay all Xmas and today - to get my mind cleansed and mood lifted, away from the CIC screen refresh temptation Hence, the mobile phone was the first to be switched off

Okay so something miraculous happened today. I got reply for my CSE in less than 3 hours. However, the miracle ends there.

Here were my questions;
1. When was the last action taken on my file?
2. What is email Id for Montreal office?

Yeah it almost feels like they are mocking us. You can ask whatever you want but we will give the same answer.

Infact people reported the opposite an hour back saying that calls were getting through easily with lesser wait time. Seems like people realized call center is working and everyone is trying to call now. Keep trying that is the only way.

True that! I got through in my first attempt and was talking to an agent 21 minutes down the line - this is as against at least 4 attempts and a min wait time of 35 minutes in the past. Plus, the agent was super duper helpful - she spoke to me for 25 minutes and confirmed the following:
1. The progress bar is useless
2. My security hasn’t started yet - and the way things are going at Ottawa, it might be the new year before anyone touches it
3. Call centre agents can no longer ping officers or leave them messages on individual files - though she said life was much better when they could - seems like a cause worth fighting for as us candidates can at least influence call centre agents rather than the elusive visa officers!
4. She said she’s going to track all movements on my file like a hawk - cuz she wants to figure out why a file that’s clean is still taking more than 6 months!

All in all, we both got to let off some steam, though nothing much might come of it

How much time does ircc take to reply back to CSE ? Any idea? I just filled up the form to inquire about my application.

You wont get PR card immediately. It takes 60 days and you cant travel without it on public transport. I have read that you can reenter Canada only on private transport ie if you drive to Canada if you travel outside Canada before receiving your PR card.

correction... I recently came back with my visa.. on airline.. with old visa and COPR .... I had done my landing like June..my wife did later on.. and some issue in photograph blah blah... so that being said... u need to have a valid visa.. I did not have PRTD for my wife...only thing officer said.. "How did airline let u board" I showed him old visa,, he was like ok.. tats all

Hehe...she actually took down my number for a call back! Don’t know if she can actually do that, but she confirmed the ISD extension very conscientiously - and offered to call me back as soon as my security starts. I complained a LOT about how the background check stays at ‘We are processing your background check’ irrespective of whether we are under Criminality or Security - so I won’t even be able to tell when security checks commence! So, she said she’s going to watch out for any movements on my file (she set up an internal alert) and will give me a call back if the security starts. I was super touched, needless to say, and will personally visit her (at Quebec) and thank her if I do get that call back

Sydney.immigration@international.gc.ca is absolutely NOT for CIO Sydney, Novascotia. It's for the Australian Visa office. Do not email them. They'll reply with a response that you should contact the CIO yourself because they cannot forward your email to them. In the most polite manner, ofcourse.

I never thought I would be posting my 1000th Comment before my PPR!! But here I am posting my endless frustrations . Seems like the email trick is vanished already like Ralph. Emailed CIO-Sydney, CPC-Ottawa, NDVO but nothing came through. Though I am not likely to land before March, but not having the PPR mail in hand is bothering me Lot

Anyway hope everyone is enjoying the festive season and gearing up for the New year Blast
