Thanks..

Anybody know what the next step after AOR1 ?

They will assess the sponsor and after sponsor approval the file is forwarded to VO abroad for processing of the PA. You will recieve AOR2 at that point. Then comes additional doc request (if any), interview letter (if any), then PPR, then visa.

Hi everyone!
Our package was received by Mississauga CPC on June 3, and we're still waiting for AOR1.
Does anyone happen to know if AOR1 would be emailed if an email address was provided on the application, or is it always sent by snail mail only?

Hello! We sent our application on June 1, 2016 (which was not nearly as organized in terms of cover letters & tables of content as the first posters....yikes, now I'm worried)- it was 104 pages total. I am a US citizen, my wife is a Canadian citizen.

It was received per FedEx on June 2, 2016. We are still awaiting AOR1. Waiting for an email, a letter, a fire signal....anything really. LOL.

please don't worry. A) us citizens have a lower threshold for proving a valid relationship, b) cover letters/tables/etc are not required, c)CIC will be taking the applicaiton and reorganizing it as it sees fit and d) i did not include a cover letter, my package was less than 100 pages TOTAL, and there were even some answers i left blank. didn't have any issue with my processing, got approved in 5ish months when the "average" was 8-10. remember all applications are unique, and each country has their own threshold for approval. what one person may require, you may not. as long as your application is clear and makes sense, you'll be fine.

Yes, they will email it to you once you provide your email address. Waiting time is like 20-25days.

Cool! - Thanks for confirming.
I will post back once I have received it.

Maybe we should have a contest to see how impressive our applications were. ;D Ours was 2.2kg, 5lbs. By far the largest part was the relationship proof which included chat logs, pictures from trips I took to Philippines, the wedding, honeymoon etc... Though we did keep it quality over quantity, like printing only 1 out of every 20 pages of chat logs (there were nearly 1750 pages), only 10-12 pictures from each trip or event, but all original receipts for things I purchased in the Philippines and of course the boarding passes and stuff.

Anyone else get excited for a moment when your phone dings, wondering if that's an e-mail from CIC? :D

Hi all, I received AOR1 today and my file was received June 1. I received AOR1 by email. Best of luck to you all and I hope you all receive your AOR1 very very soon.

That is awesome news!! Congratulations!

And all the people who are applying in June, if it's not too much trouble, it would be very helpful if everyone added their information on the JUNE 2016 spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZG_NN9H1Fcq0GvY2UOHf0DBjmh5xhdME6bF35kv1SkU/edit#gid=0. It just makes it easier to follow timelines. Thank you!

Good luck everyone!!

One more question- how do you know/find out what visa office your application goes through if its family class and it goes to CIC processing in Mississauga? I'm a US citizen....so would this be New York? Then I can fill out this spreadsheet! :)

US Applications are processed in Ottawa. NYC does not process spousal sponsorship applications, and if an interview is required, Ottawa will transfer the application to LA - where interviews are held. Interviews are rare for US citizens.

The sponsor approval letter will confirm the visa office, which will be Ottawa.

Thst's impressive! Ours was less than 1 kg. We included Facebook chat logs (1 page for each month we've been
Together), Skype video call screenshots, random photos (less than 40), and photocopies of boarding passes. My husband is also in the Philippines. And yes I've been checking my email at least 5 times a day since last week (don't have push email because I hated being obligated to check new messages in the past, but maybe I need email on my phone now)! Our application was received on June 2nd. Sent via Canada Post.

I'm sponsoring my wife from the Philippines, nice to meet a fellow Philippines sponsor. :) At June 2 means you will probably get AOR1 before the end of the week for sure. I really hope that our applications will see some speedup from the efforts the CIC is putting in to reduce backlogs and shorten processing times. I also hope that they would give more attention to Philippines applicants. In 2015 they were the largest source country for new immigrants into Canada, so why not keep that number high. :D
