I don't think they verify the contents as soon as they receive the application. But as it processes, they will let you know if anything is missing or if they need something else and they will request more documents from you. Usually you have 30 days to send them whatever they requested. They won't just deny your application if something is missing, but it will extend your processing time.

About that...Is there anyway I can ask CIC to contact me only by email? Or by regular mail in Canada but not at my spouse's (Lima). Last time I tried to send something in Lima it arrived 2 months later. So if they do send us a letter here, we will never be able to meet de 30 days delay.

Hi everyone,

I'm sponsoring my Japanese wife via outland. The CIC just got my application today (June 30) so I'm a little late to the party but I figured I'd add myself to this thread. I'll add myself to the google doc as well. Thanks to the person who created it!

Seniors correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is a way to request they only contact you a certain way. From what I have seen of other peoples' experiences, they get document requests from CIC by email.

Your best bet then would be to send the documents by the fastest type of mail possible, but also fax it and/or attach it to an email explaining you have mailed the documents physically but have attached an electronic copy. It's pretty much better all around if you include everything with the initial application though.

Thanks KelseyTVS

I hope we will not be requested anything but we never know. The problem is just receiving the letter, so if we receive it by email it will be ok. The other way around (from peru to Canada), it's pretty quick.

Was just on the CIC website to check the processing times...SA is now at 57 days. Went up by 2 days.

Staff's going on vacation, I'm guessing. So I kinda expect it to go up a bit more.

Once the 1st of June people have their AOR it'll give us a rough idea how much they've slowed down during this period. Soon I hope! :)

hi Friends

any update??? :)
