Anyone have any idea of exactly what my marriage certificate is suppose to look like, because I'm not an idiot but can't seem to get this right.

there is a long form and a short form. if the long form didn't work, try the short form. also, taffy7 i believe has experience with this, so you can try asking her.

Thank you! I sent the long form which is the certified copy! I'll be happy to send them a copy of the short form that was performed at the ceremony. If they look hard enough at the bottom of the long form certified that the marriage has taken place. Just getting very frustrating. Other than email or fax, is there anyway to contact them in Ottawa? It takes them almost a month to return an email.

Congrats to all who are getting their COPR! I on the other hand continue to get the run around and have been asked a 3rd time to send documents. I have been told I sent my marriage license instead of my marriage certificate. When I went online and paid the money to obtain my certified marriage certificate, I received a long copy and this is what I sent in to Ottawa. I'm so confused. As well as they want a copy of my husband's Canadian Revenue Agency Notice of tax Assessment. I'm just getting nervous because my husband does owe back taxes but he's been paying them off! I just wish this was a little easier and less stressful. At the top of the long form it will have a #in a box. It will also say Marriage licence. At the top of the page it will have the date it was issued and a few other numbers. It will have all the information on it including parents name ,religion the place you got married ,witness signatures and the signature of the person whom married you , the date you got married. Don't worry about back taxes i did too and i was approved as a sponsor. They don't care about that .

Congrats again to everyone who has received good news!

I emailed CPC Ottawa on December 5 regarding an update and I got the auto reply but no actual reply. It's been more than 20 days so I sent them another email asking for an update.

They gave us until November 25th to submit the financial documents and we got them in October 29th so I am not sure what's happened.

CIC is currently processing OCTOBER applications, so it will still be some time before december applicants hear anything. the sponsor will not receive notification the application was received until they start processing the application. this process requires a lot of patience.

yeah that sounds similar to the long form I have. I'm going to service ontario today to double check that that is the correct marriage certificate I paid for. A friend of my step-daughter's got married a few months before us, and they received an actual certificate that looks different from mine.

The back taxes I think is more of an issue than I thought. Owning his own business and all the interest that has accrued, I found out just how bad it is! He finally opened his notice of assessment and saw how much he actually owes, and I think he had a panic attack as well as I just busted out crying! He said I can't send that in! We are meeting with an accountant today to try to straighten things out because his last accountant messed up royally. I'm hoping if I am able to send his notice of assessment but a letter from this accountant we are using, explaining we are working on taking care of this, maybe they'd give us the benefit of the doubt.
I barely slept last night just thinking that I'm going to get denied PR. Not to mention the stress my husband is under and the frustration mounting.

Hi, we got Decision Made on Dec 11, but we have still not received anything in the post from Ottawa. I was wondering if anyone else who got their DM in Dec has received confirmation in the post yet? We live in Norway, so I am hoping it just got caught up the Christmas rush, but I am a little worried now.

We did, however, receive a letter from the High Commission in London to send in my partner's passport + an updated information chart and new picturs. Does that mean they are producing his COPR? We are a little afraid to get our hopes up.

if your partner requires a visa, then he won't receive his COPR until he sends his passport to the visa office. The DM letter you are expecting is the letter you received requesting his passport and pictures. The approval can not be sent until those items are received because that is what will be used to issue his visa. the visa office has to insert the visa counterfoil in his passport, and you'll receive the COPR when they return his passport. you will want to get the requested information in as soon as possible so they can finalize his approval.

Finally "Decision Made" on Permanent Residency application side...My husband's passport has been at the Embassy in Santo Domingo since December 17th (holidays I'm sure slowed everything down!!) I expect the final e-mail communication notifying us of their decision should be received very shortly? Anyone know?

you won't receive a letter notifying you of the decision. since your husband submitted his passport, he will receive it with the visa and his copr in the mail.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have totally misunderstood. I thought he'd receive a letter in the mail with their decision separately from the COPR. We sent the forms and a copy of his passport to London early this week, so hopefully we'll hear back very soon. A relief to know nothing is missing in the post!

nope. the "letter" is his COPR. there is no congratulatory/decision made note that comes with it. If he is visa exempt, then he'll just receive the COPR. how it's sent is dependant on the visa office. Ottawa sent it in regular mail.
