No. You can request information on yourself (personal information) under "Privacy Act" and it is free. But if you request information on someone else, than you must request it under ATIP (Access to Information Act) and it costs $5. In both cases you must be in Canada to be able to make the request (or ask someone in Canada on your behalf).

I am june 9th applicant and still no news :(. CIC says application in queue for review by an officer.

did you get any mail from CIC or its in your GCMS notes?

Hi rgirish,

from where you came to know that "application in queue for review by an officer."

I sent an email to them, here its in short

[All Application Details]
Dear Sir/ Madam,
This is request to check the status of my application and wanted to clarify on outstanding document.
We did not send our Singapore COC and expecting a query, We do have COC now based on AOR please suggest next step.

CIC replied next day that

Good Day,

Please note that your application is currently in queue for review by an officer which explains why you haven’t received any correspondence from our office.

We do not require any information from you at the present time. An officer will contact you if further information is required. Please ensure when submitting documents that they are still valid and will not expire within 6 months as this could delay your application.

We appreciate your patience and ask that you keep correspondence with our office to a minimum. In order to process requests efficiently, we will not be responding to duplicate requests.

Regards,
Case Processing Centre

But suggest that lets not bombard their email box, because they were very clear in the end that keep the communication minimal. I mean ofcourse you do have right to send so but I thought just dont get them pissed off.

of course you may not agree with me though.
