june 2014 applications for spouse dependant open work permit from outside canada

Dear Friends,

I want to apply for postdoctoral work permit online. My wife wants to come with me to Canada but we haven't decided about her working status yet. The first intention is to get visa, but if it is possible to get open work permit right now, it would be great. The problem is when you want to apply online, you should answer to some questions. The problematic question is this one:

* Why is your family member visiting Canada?

1) Visit- tourismus
2) Visit (other types)
3) Study (less that 6 month)
4) Study (more than 6 month)
5) Work in a work permit exempted category
6) Work (labour work permit required)
7) Work (other)
8 ) Transit


Could you please let me know which option should I select (1, 2, 5 or 6) because the required documents are based on this answer.

My spouse in studying in Canada and i have applied for OWP online on 20th Aug from Bangalore... I had my medicals way before (July) applying for OWP... on 21st Aug i got update from CIC, Review of medical results "Passed"... From there on i havent got any update or any changes.. The status is "open" and i dont see which consulate is processing my application... Can anyone let me know how many days will it take for CIC to update after reviewing the medicals?

I work in Canada. My spouse applied for a Open Work Permit on 23 July, 2014. Completed Medical Examination prior to our application. So far the status of our application is Open. No response from the Canadian High Commission for our emails. I was wondering how long would it approximately take to process Open Work Permit Application?

Is it true that pilot project is closed? How can I apply for permanent residency if I'm just a food counter attendant? Hope you reply guys

i have applied for open work permit from chandigarh VFS on July 28, 2014. On VFS tracking portal its showing that my application is under process. its almost been 1.5 months i haven't got any request for medical which is making me all the more tensed. my husband is on study permit and his visa expires on feb 2014. kindly somebody please help if anybody sailing in the same boat.

I think the waiting is everywhere now. My application is entering the 11th week now. I wonder how long on average it takes to process SOWP. Is it a good thing for it to take that long?

Our last rejection was in 1 month and 2 weeks...it can't be expected that if they are delaying it's a positive sign
We have applied again on 24th August...

Maximum time for work permit processing in Beijing is 3 months after that you can send email to Beijing office in case specific.......

Savraj i know about the vfs guys they don't know anything and it is not 20 days it is actually 20 months on the cic website,i hope it is a error and yesterday i sent a email to cic and they replied same day " it is going to take more time "......

Hey, I have not received any communication from the embassy yet. Next week will be the 11th week. I am expecting that they are finalizing the process and will give us the visa soon. May God be with us.
