I would love to get stuck in no man's land like Tom Hanks in The Terminal, but only if Catherine Zeta-Jones is there as well ha ha ;D.

On a more serious note - are you planning to land @ Peace Bridge @ Fort Erie? From what I can gather by going over the forum here is that they basically ask you for Passport, CoPR and a piece of ID with your address on it (Canadian driver's license should work fine). The advantange of Peace Bridge over the Rainbow Bridge is that unlike Niagara, at Fort Erie you can make a u-turn before reaching the US; so you won't have to deal with US border officials at all.

I would still recommend that you give a call to CIC's Call Centre once you receive your CoPR and get an estimate on how long the wait times are for landing at a local office. If it is around or less than two/three weeks, then I guess it might be worth it to avoid the hassle of having to go to the border altogether.

I think you will be fine. Please keep us posted on how the landing goes.

Good luck!

I believe one of the applicants called CIC and got an appointment in Toronto for completing the landing formalities.

Thanks yosemite and swahid.

This forum has really helped in keeping track of every step hasn't it?! However its not over till i re enter without any issues! :o

As per what I've read, its OK if i dont have a US visa (hence the flagpole) and its okay if i am on implied Canadian status too. However not having any sort of document to prove i'm on implied status in canada makes me a little concerned. :|

What if I get stuck in no man's land like tom hanks in the Terminal? :o :o :o

You will be fine Ssparkles. Not having a US visa is not an issue at all....flag poling is a very standard procedure. About your implied status, maybe you should carry the fee payment receipt and a copy of your WP renewal application with you to show you are on implied status. i think Your WP extension application will show up in the system as well and that would be enough to show you are on implied status. Good luck and do keep us posted.

Just got PPR ;D

Even though I'm visa-exempt (from US) they still said to send my passport in the email. Do you think it's safe to assume that I can send in just a photocopy for mine? My wife is non-exempt so I will send hers in of course.

my advise would be to still it along with your wife's. I am also from a visa exempt country and i emailed a copy of my passport. It's been six weeks now and i have not received my CoPR yet.

True, it can't hurt to send it along. I'll have an excuse to not go to the states then while I'm waiting :P

Congrats 2 of 5 ! Good to see the June gang making it to the finish line :)

For sure I will try the local office landing option first and see if I can get an appointment within 2/3 weeks. I would really like to avoid a trip to the US border @ Peace Bridge. Ottawa to Fort Erie and back is a 1200 km round-trip (driving) that I would rather avoid, even if it means delaying the landing a little bit.

Some CIC offices can do inland landing rather quick, so call in and ask. I heard one case where the person can book to land on Thursday (and he called on Monday).

congrats 2_of_5!! Good news :)

swahid, yosemite thanks for the comments.

I'll carry the payment proof and as much stuff as i can find to prove my implied status.

btw I GOT my passport back!!! and the COPR! I'm feeling so good right now :)

I've been trying to call CIC on that 2100 number with no luck. I'll keep trying to see if i can get an inland appointment anytime soon otherwise will just go to Niagara tomorrow morning!!
