I left out the other part of my impression, or mentioned only in passing, that some offices (or more general approach?) seem to be asking for info as standard operating procedure. These tendencies obviously can contradict each other.I had the same impression, but I guess I'm unlucky... just got a request for additional intent to return proof. PA from ETA country. Really don't know what else to send... I was trying to avoid buying tickets already but I guess I have no choice.
My guess is they want an update because it has been almost a year and things might have changed.
I don't have a lot of suggestions, there are a few others who have got these info requests where it seems almost like a form letter and the person reviewing didn't even look at what was provided before.
So obviously update what you can - but I would have no compunctions about repeating and resending information that was already sent before, too.
Because it seems like a form letter, I don't think it should be taken as a sign you need to get on a plane tomorrow or over-react.
Quick question: did the communication/request use the standard procedural fairness language? I.e. reference to "I ahve doubts that you..." or quoting specific sections of the immigration act, with warning that if not satisfied it will be refused? Or just request for info?
Good luck at any rate.
