Hello @legalfalcon,
I was a student in Canada up until April 2020, and in July got ITA. I do not have funds for POF, so my dad transferred them to me and got a gift deed made in India. Will it be a problem since the funds are not in my account for 6 months, or will the gift deed be sufficient?

And will I be exempt from showing POF if I can get a job here in Canada before submitting the application and updating the application with the Canadian job?

Any response regarding these doubts will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Are you applying under CEC. If yes then you are exempt.

No, never worked in Canada, just got out of college here.
You don’t need to show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family if

  • you’re applying under the Canadian Experience Class or
  • you’re authorized to work in Canada and you have a valid job offer, even if you apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Federal Skilled Trades Program
Unless one of above applies to you, a valid proof of funds will be required.

Then I need to go with the gift deed.
Thanks so much for the help. Appreciate it.

If you are should the source as gift deed then you do not have to meet the 6 months requirement. The 6 months requirement is there to ensure that the funds are indeed yours and not borrowed. When you submit your application make sure that you explain this and in the gift deed you should have also mentioned the account numbers or the mode of transfer.

If you get a job in Canada, then you are exempt from PoF. If you see a PoF upload window in your application, just include a LoE and explain it.

@legalfalcon - any suggestions on when can I apply for GCMS notes? Is that one time application & payment and I get periodic updates or do I have to apply for each time?

There is no use requesting GCMS notes 3-4 months post AoR. Also, you will have to file a new request every-time you wish to obtain the most recent GCMS notes.

Since you are inland you can request your GCMS notes for free anytime you wish and you can do so for free.
