Shouldn’t we request them to provide the certificates for now atleast for ppl who have decision made status on their files? The way they have cancelled everything till further notice cant take us anywhere. They shud keep doing the process may be with lesser number of ppl than normal.

As there are so many people who have DECISION MADE ON there files from last 3-6 months and still not oath letter invitation. I don’t know how they process the applications.

Hey, I hears IRCC will be sending Citizenship certificates since they are not conducting ceremonies due to Covid-19.... is that true?

That would be great but I think swearing the oath in front of a judge is a requirement by law so not sure how they would get round that

Hi, the processing time for Citizenship grant is stated 12 months on the IRCC website and for Citizenship certificate (proof of citizenship) it is stated 5 months. So overall we have to wait 17 months to be able to apply for Canadian passport?
Can anyone explain what happens between the time we are granted citizenship to the time we receive proof of citizenship? I am wondering why it takes 5 extra months. Thanks!

1. Apples and Oranges.
2. You are issued your certificate of citizenship on the day you take the Citizenship oath.
3. Proof of citizenship is issued (most cases) is for a person born outside Canada to a Canadian parent.

Hello all,

I have a question if anyone can support [irrelevant to the forum discussion, apologies for that]

I became a landed PR in July 2019 and then 10 days later came back to Dubai to complete some pending tasks. I was supposed to move to Canada for good by May this year. However, due to COVID-19, I am unable to travel now and for safety plus economic reasons, I am thinking about moving for good by Feb 2021

If I land in Feb 2021, I would still be able to complete 3 years out of the 5 years of PR [which expires in July 2024]

Can moving this late affect my PR status or citizenship application in the future?

A great advice would be highly appreciated
