Is it possible to raise a CSE just to ask for a status update? How long they usually take to answer? I am curious about the progress of my security, if it has already started or not, but it is not worth the hassle of a call.

Yes it is possible.
But a call may be easier because they always say not to raise CSE till your 6 months processing time.
I still did tho.

Nice... I think I can wait until I complete the 6 months, but it is good to have another option. Last time I called it took me a lot of time just to enter the queue, and there is always the possibility of a moody agent picking up the phone.

If you find a moody agent then make them realize that they are not doing a charity work and just do their Fing job. They are AGENTS and nothing more and its their duty to respond to queries. If the system lacks transparancy people are going to get anxious and they got to understand that.

@Jaywalker I just raised a CSE. I'll let you guys know what the reply is, if any.
@tobs @Jaywalker
(sorry to be late on this discussion)
I will also not wait without any action (I got non-refundable tickets to Canada for february-19, so it's an important matter for me to get the PPR asap).
It's nice to see that Jaskiran got it's PPR from LVO in a reasonable time. I'll give it like a week and then i'll go after the brazilian LVO (if one exists).

Tobs, pls let us know about the CSE reply.

I'm feeling positive!

Why did you book non refundable tickets without the PPR letter in hand??
That's too optimistic

Is it? As someone posted a while ago, one of the agents told that it is not their responsibility to give status updates. And I do think it makes sense, since there is a web service for this (yes, it lacks a lot of valuable info there, but it is there).

And I would not recommend 'putting an agent on their place', since CIC can refuse the visa for ANY reason they seem fit, without the need of disclosure. Paranoia yes, but I would not risk 5+ years of planning and preparation, plus 6 months of waiting, just for a status update.

Because I got an amazing black friday discount, lol. If I lose those tickets, well, it happens. But I remain optimistic! =]

Its not their responsibility to give status updates ? Then what’s the purpose of them providing customer service number.

These calls are not attended by visa officers to begin with but some customer service people who are there for the purpose of answering calls and it makes no sense for them to get all moody when someone is just trying to know the status of their application after putting in all the hard work which is extremely difficult.

And no they can’t just blindly refuse your application for no reason . It’s a democratic process and they will be answerable for their actions as their decision can be challenged.

It blows my mind that you are ok with using a service that doesn’t provide any valuable info rather than calling them just for the fear of getting connected to a moody agent. Grow a pair buddy.

If you think so that is okay. Do your way.

Anyone else who has review required on their gcms notes?
Mine is for employment - it says no LOE even though all the other paperwork is included. File hasn't been touched since first week of October.

Proactively submit job letters & pay slips that matches the NOC code you applied with.

Yep, doing that yet again. I have 15+ years of foreign experience but notes say they're only considering 2 years. What a joke!

Id like to call CIC tomorrow evening before I book my flight to Australia on the weekend to start my Australian work visa. If they say my eligibility has passed I might not bother with Aus. When is the best time to call? And if someone can give me the number to call off google hangouts that would be great.
