What do you mean going over your declared goods? Did they check all the times you had declared to make sure they matched?

no, they don't go through your belongings to make sure they match. it just takes time for the officer to do everything. they do have to read your delaration and probably need to make sure the values listed make sense for what you are declaring and that you're not declaring anything illegal. for some reason they like to ask the same question multiple times (probably to make sure your answers are consistent and there are no issues in the future). they also have to input info into their system to print out a receipt. it's not something they tend to do quickly.

Hi folks,

CIC received my application July 25th. I received SA September 9th. Since then I have heard nothing. I did not do an upfront medical. The reason for this is that my preferred landing date is still some time off - July or August 2015. So I did not want the clock to start ticking from the date I took my medical. I mentioned this in my cover letter - do you think that they have not prioritised me because my preferred landing date is still some time off? My application was sent to Ottawa. I am planning to do my medical this month even though CIC has not requested it yet.

Thanks

Jonny

I wouldnt worry, we have not heard anything either and we are a couple of weeks ahead of you from the timelines. They seem to be just beginning July applicants at the moment. I would probably get your medical done but make sure its linked to your application number and not the sponsorship approval number as I've heard that has caused problems for people. Your number should start something like F000.

hello , i just want to share my story to you ,this is my application in details:

application received by CPC: july 30 2014
sponsorship approval and my file transferred to VO: 19 September 2014

if your status changed to in process in december and your MP verified they are doing the background check, that means they are nearing the end of making a decision. my guess is they are holding the passport because they are going to need it to issue the visa. in that case, there's no need to apply for a TRV because it is likely you will soon get your PR visa. to get an idea of how long it takes for your visa office, find the thread specific to that office and ask there. most threads track this sort of information.

thank u so much "rhcohen2014" for ur answer ,but do u think these check can take long time,,,when the MP emailed me they told me they tried to get a date for ending my application and the VO answer them that it will be sometime in january 2015 ,,but the MP look not sure about this information ,,they told me wait and we will check again

i am still waiting the PPR! :-[.. Our application was approved last august 2014 and I was requested additional documents lat sept.. its already January there's no update after all .. July applicants can u post your timeline here or any news for this month of January.

like i said it's dependant on the visa office, and it's dependant on the visa officer. i can not tell you an exact time. no one can. again, the thread specific to your visa office will be able to tell you better timelines than i can.

ok so lets go back to the waiting game, i hope everyone will be close to the one who loves sooooon,,thank u so much again rhcohen2014 for ur effort and ur time and happy new year for u and for all applicants..

So 99 percent of U.S applicants do not need to send their physical passport to the VO, just a copy?

US citizens do not have to send their physical passport in because they are visa exempt and therefore do not require a visa counterfoil in their passport. US residents who are NOT visa exempt will need to send their passport in for the counterfoil.

a good amount of us citizens (and other visa exempt applicants) don't even get a passport request because the visa office assumes the passport details have not changed since the application was submitted.

Online status changed to 'in process' on December 29, 2014
Checked today and status is now 'decision made'!

Congratulations!!!
