Are you in Toronto, Onatario. I think they issue OHIP for 3 months while on implied status, do check again...
They will refuse to renew your health card, but if you already had it (you're not applying for the first one - you're already in the system) you can appeal the refusal and you'll get it within 3-4 weeks.

Alternatively if you get new BOWP and renew your health card they will reimburse you for medical expenses that would have been covered by OHIP while you were on implied status (but only up to 3 months back)

Dear Friends,

I need some help regarding extension of my spouse's work permit.

I received my BOWP early in the year but I did not apply for my wife since she already had an open work permit.

Now her work permit is expiring soon and I plan to apply for a work permit for her.
But Somewhere in the forum I read that dependents are not eligible for a BOWP, but I understand they are eligible for extension of status.

While I got through the online application package under the section

"Are you are a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child of a person who" In the online questionnaire for the following question.
"Applied for Permanent Residence to an office in Canada and was determined to be eligible for Permanent Resident status (first stage approval)"
- What shall be the answer for this one? Yes or No
I received my AOR last year
Medical in June this year.
My BOWP is valid till April next year.

Any response to this is highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Best Regards,

Dependents are not eligible for BOWP but they are eligible for Open work permit (new or extension) based on our BOWP. As long as you have AOR for PR and a valid BWOP, you can select YES for that question.

Thanks Guys for the prompt response!
