Hi all,
My partner and I started the application process in July 2012, so here are the timelines and updates from beginning to end we experienced.

Category: FAM Common-law. (My fiancee is Korean, and we both live together in Canada during this process)
Visa office: Seoul, Korea
All meds and payments were done in advance before mailing the app.

Full Application mailed to Mississauga office: July 13 (arrived in Mississauga on July 16)
Sponsor App AOR (UCI & App# created): August 18
Sponsor App Approved (letter sent via email): August 21

App sent to Seoul, Korea Visa office: August 21
Seoul office AOR: September 6
Applicant App Started processing: October 16
Request for more info (Korean entry/exit certificate): October 16
"Decision Made" status: November 6
CoPR received by mail at Canada address: November 13 (actual issue date on CoPR paper is Oct 30)

So exactly 4 months from mailing our app to receiving the CoPR in the mail. I think we had lots of good luck on our side

Thanks everyone... We are indeed super happy at the early Christmas gift given by CIC!! Heading to Niagara Falls tomorrow to do the landing.

I have no idea how our app flew through the process so quickly. My fiancee and I prepared the whole thing ourselves without using an agent or consultant, and just had the very basic info included in our app for proof of our common-law relationship.

Hello Julyers!!!

My wife got a request for additional information today from the visa office in Warsaw. They ask for her x-ray (we did not do it due to pregnancy), for our daughter's birth certificate when she is born and copies of all pages of my wife's passport. I have a feeling it is a good thing. Photocopies of passport pages are usually requested at the end from what I understand. I just hope they will wait about a month as my wife is due towards the end of December. After the birth, the x-ray and our daughter's birth certificate will take a day to make, translate (the birth certificate) and send it to the Visa Office. I think we will inquire if waiting for a month is ok with the Visa Office. What do you think? Will they VO wait for a month or slightly more. They did not give us a deadline in the letter.

Amazing lioha! I would probably recommend sending a case-specific enquiry with the information you just provided. I am sure they would be ok with it, as as far as I am aware they normally have a 60 day period to resubmit additional documents, but it couldn't hurt to check, especially as there was no timeframe on your last communication with them. I will update the spreadsheet. All the best with your wife's birth!

Hi Line, and welcome!
Congrats on your sponsor approval.There are a couple of other people who are also going through CPP_Ottawa. There may be its own designated thread, so if you do a search it might come up (Sorry I can't remember off the top of my head if I have seen one around). But there should be timelines on there that will give you an indication of how long you will be waiting.

Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class

Both sponsored applicant and sponsor live in the US. Sponsor is Canadian Citizen.

This is the timeline so far:

- Medical Tests done in May 2012.
- Application received at CPC Mississauga on July 31, 2012.
- Sponsorship approved (Step 1) October 25, 2012
- PR Application sent to CPP – Ottawa Visa Office

Applications are sent to the CPP Ottawa when the sponsored applicant lives in the US. It appears that those applications follow the same processing times as those applications made for sponsored applicants living within Canada (currently at 8 months for step 2).

Thanks Bagel. We did send a request to the VO yestutday. We basically said that within 60 days they will have everything and asked if this is ok with them. I'll have to do some running with the translation and the sending of all paperwork, as I am going to be with my wife at birth and will do all the running of course .

In general, if you (the APPLICANT) can see an update in ECAS that your app for PR has been received, it means your wife (the SPONSOR) has been approved as a sponsor and the Mississauga office has already transferred your file to the visa processing office (in your case Islamabad), and they have successfully received it.

Didn't your wife get a confirmation letter that she was approved as a sponsor?

Hello everyone, I feel like I might be the only person filing under these circumstances:
-conjugal partner from Albania, Rome office (he is Italian PR)

I applied conjugal because I can not leave Canada to live with my partner in another country. I have a 7 year old son here.
Rome denied my partner a tourist visa in June, 2012 so I considered this route (immigration barrier)

I have qualified for sponsorship but I am really lost. Does CPC Mississauga review both the sponsorship and the person to be sponsored app? Or.. does the VO abroad, in this case Rome, look only at his app. I would think that if I qualified as a sponsor that they would not be questioning our conjugal relationship.

Please help me.. this has been on my mind for a long time as I feel like I am alone..

Was there a barrier to you two getting married? If not then it might be hard to prove conjugal.

Anyway, Mississauga just checks to make sure that the application is complete and they check all the sponsor stuff/ do a background check on the sponsor. It has nothing to do with checking the validity of your relationship. You still have a big uphill battle to go. Good luck with everything.

Sorry to expand on the previous post but it is worth noting that Conjugal at best has about a 2%-3% success rate, I don't believe your circumstances lets you qualify for Conjugal partnership. CIC are really tough with this application, inconvenience is not considered an excuse i.e if moving to Canada means your spouse has to give up a job or if 1 of you has a child and it is difficult to come overseas and get married. CIC will look at your application and ask some of the follow questions. Can you and your partner get married in another country (anywhere in Europe?) Can you marry in your spouses home country? (if travelling with your son in inconvenient, this will not be considered a barrier). Conjugal is more for instance people who were orginally married in the Phillipines and their relationship turned sour and under their country's law they can't get a divorce. Therefore they could not remarry a Canadian PR/Citizen because their country would not grant divorce. That by CIC is considered a major obstacle not an inconvenience.

As for the sponsorship as mentioned the sponsorship is only in regards in to can you financially provide for your partner. Relationship validity and your story and relationship status all gets reviewed at the Applicant's VO. I am really sorry but this application has about a 0.001 % chance of success.
