Nice to know, well am already having phd in biotech and did diploma in clinical research from Toronto in 2010-2011. I have couple of friends doing phd in ON. Always good to see people with same field. My sister in Canada insisting me join another phd but you know second phd means what .....hehehehe.

RANT ALERT! RANT ALERT!

WTF?! How is this even possible that this guy "Kenney" remains at this ministerial post? Hasn't he proven beyond any doubt that he is inapt at his job? First he returns thousands of applications due to "backlog" after people have waited for over 4 years for response, second he keeps people in the dark regarding emigration process and policies, third creates misinformation and contradictory forms and webpages related to the emigration process and rules, fourth he is not being able to handle applications flow properly, fifth not being able to maintain proper record of submitted applications resulting in MONTHS of delays on updating caps... etc...etc. I mean seriously? What's next? Will Mr. Kenney steal your application fees to build a nicer personal residence?

As someone mentioned before, this is not a damn elementary school "zine" or a church's Sunday paper. People lives are at stake. They should replace with Mr. Kenney with someone who has a better understanding of that and who can tailor the emigration "experience" a little better instead of toying with people's emotions.

I will also add that people invest a lot of time and money into preparing their applications and gathering all documents, taking ILETS etc. Even though Canada has every right to do whatever they want with their emigration policies, I think it's quite unfair to treat people like a dumb cattle for slaughter and show disrespect and disregard for any type of organizational effort on every level in assisting potential future residents and citizens of Canada while insulting them and wasting their time and effort.

That's right. And before July 1st no apps will be accepted without a job offer since the 10,000 cap has been reached.

Pretty much the former FSW1 has been shelved. We may or may not get some kind of replacement for it early next year, but I heard they were thinking of implementing a "just in time" system so it may be quite a dynamically changing list, if there is one.

Skilled workers and professionals - Who can apply

Skilled workers are people who are selected as permanent residents based on their ability to become economically established in Canada.

Federal skilled worker applications are assessed for eligibility according to the criteria set out below.

For your application to be eligible for processing, you must:

have a valid offer of arranged employment, OR
have one year of continuous full-time paid work experience in at least one of the occupations listed here * OR
be an international student enrolled in a PhD program in Canada (or graduated from a Canadian PhD program within the past 12 months) and meet certain criteria.

*The occupations on this list are in areas where there is a proven need in Canada for more workers. If you are applying under this stream, CIC will only accept your application if you have experience in one of these occupations.

Work experience minimum requirements

If your application is eligible for processing it will then be assessed against minimum requirements.

Why don't you join as post doc.

From our group one post doc is leaving in August end, and my supervisor is looking for more post-docs or even PhDs.
