So this means that Aug 17th applications are reflecting in the CAPs update as of today. Is my understanding right?
Yes Your Highness , it should. Also the fee processing is done in batches. An application is counted in cap only after it's been charged.

Applications with same filing date can have different dates of encashment even if they have same mode of payment. Though the dates are somewhere close by (check the tracker carefully).

So this means that the back log is not 60 odd days as we had thought earlier? It is about 80 days? If they are still on 17th - 18th Aug applications, it means the back log is more than 80 days even!!

In that case, sorry PRapp, my analysis falls flat :-( I have been keeping track of no. of appl rcvd since day 1 and the gap between CAPs updates and so on. From that I have found that the applications for 0631 is approx 5 average per day. If the back log was 60 days, we would be well in CAP. But if it is 80 days+, I have my doubts. OH GOD!! I dont believe this!!

RKC what are your views? And all other forum friends, what are your views please?

No the backlog is much less than July. It has come down. Don't forget the quantum of applications in the month of July was higher than Aug (included total 1000 apps of 1122 & 3152 ) . Also, diminishing gap between fee charging date & PER suggests less applications in Aug month thereby smaller queue for ER & less backlog.

not only the september applicants but also october applicants of 3131 and 631 are in safe side , cic website showing no. of complete applications at 10 november are those applications which are passed through completeness checks which include only
are all the forms are complete
is IELTS result is attached
is funds proof is attached
is mode of payment is proper
there is no link between bd encashed and cap ,if the link is present how CIO process 74 applications of 3131 for cashing bd in last 10 days , on the other hand its capacity was 5 applications per day.

back log means CIO is working steady irrespective of the no. of applications received but we are observing that CIO processed 4.5 applications of 3131 per day before 10 days but it increased 8 applications per day in last 10 days . So there is a phnomenon in CIO for announcing Cap which is increased or decreased according to the number of applications received.

The numbers on this page are updated at least once a week, but these figures are meant as a guide only. There is no guarantee that an application sent in now will fall within the cap by the time it reaches the CIO. We are looking into ways to minimize the effect of this on website updates.
Applications received from PhD applicants:

Applications received toward the overall cap: 0 of 1,000 as of November 10, 2011

3131 will be the next cap reached

This statement would hold good only if the update of CAPs on the website is online. Unfortunately it isn't. They are still updating CAPS for Aug 18th - 20th applicants. Thats my worry.

Your Highness,

I do my analysis like this. in 7 weeks ( till Aug 15) 0631 reached 380. So roughly 54 apps per week. I have checked last 3 weeks, the average apps per week has fallen to 30. And which is true also because more applications were there in July. If the average remains 30 0631 will close in 15th Aug + 4 weeks, around 12th September. However I am hoping average per week should fall and hence it might close around 20th September.

So I am hoping from now on it should be less than 4 apps per day for 0631. At the start it was 7 - 8 apps per day

CIO is working on 18 to 20 August applicants for pre eligibility review (PER ) not for completeness checks and CAP is related to completeness checks not to pre eligibility review (PER ) . completeness checks requires only 7 to 15 days where as pre eligibility review (PER ) requires 60 to 90 days.

Why dont we just call CIC and ask if mid September people are within the cap or not. That will clear. My guess is they are currently opening 18 - 20th August applications

if cap is related to cashment of the fee then 18 August applicant must be in cap of 22 october not in 10th november because his fee was cashed on 22 october , why are you misguiding new applicants who are about to apply.
