Government of Canada supports Afroculture: Le festival des cultures in Orleans, Ontario
Orleans, February 11, 2011 – Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Orléans, today announced support for Afroculture: Le festival des cultures (Afroculture: The Festival of Cultures) taking place in Orleans, Ontario.
“Festivals such as this one are a great opportunity for Orleans’ multicultural community to showcase their diverse backgrounds as well as the many talents of Canadian artists,” said MP Galipeau on behalf of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney.
Action et développement Jeunesse (Youth Action and Development) is receiving $12,500 for the event under Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Inter-Action program.
“The Government of Canada is delivering funds to bring together people from various cultural backgrounds to showcase their diversity and facilitate intercultural exchange,” added MP Galipeau.
The festival, which will take place February 11 to 12, at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Orleans, is open to the public. It will include visual art exhibitions and musical performances that reflect diverse ethnic communities. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
