Sorry to hear about your luck.

Finding a job in 3-6 months is normal. Not getting one within six weeks, especially during a major holiday season is normal. People aren't hiring right now.

If you let us know where you are in Canada, we might be able to give you some tips, but there aren't jobs offered on this forum.

If you're looking for survival jobs, I can give you some tips:

  • Prepare your resume in Canadian style. Don't over-qualify yourself with all your degrees/specialty work experiences.
  • Try to talk to the managers of grocery shops/fast food chains/restaurants/mall stores while you're there. Say that you're looking for job and if there is any vacancy. Always keep some copies of your resume handy so that you can right away fill out application on spot.
  • Re-visit the stores after some days if they promised you anything/you filled any job application.
  • Talk/mix with your local community. For example, if you're from India, visit local temples, Indian marketplace/groceries/restaurants often. Most people would help you as they might have passed same phase before as immigrants.

But if you're looking for white-collar jobs, you've to be really patient. You may have to go through long process of certification in the province you're living. You've to research in depth in preparing your portfolio. Make contacts/links and so on.
