Hello all. Will I get job offer points if it is a fresh job offer? I have an indefinite job offer, full time. I read online that the job offer has to be there for 1 year. Does this mean that I should be employed in Canada for 1 year or is it that the offer should allow employment for at least 1 year [i.e in the future]

Will the new job involve an approved LMIA and closed work permit?

The fresh job offer is based on c20 reciprocal work permit, which is exempt from LMIA. I see that job offers with exempt work permits are also allowed, but I'm unsure

Since the job is LMIA exempt, you need to work for the employer for a full year in Canada before you can claim the 50 job offer points under Express Entry. So this means you must first complete a year of working for that employer and only once this year has passed will you be able to claim the job offer points.

oh wow.. That is bad. I have already worked in Canada for 1 year and now changing jobs. It seems if I change now I lose the 50 points

You can’t claim 50 points if you are not longer in the job. The job offer from your current job must state that you will have a permanent full-time job one year past PR.

@Naturgrl. I can get the employer to write that the offer will be for 1 year past PR. That is not a problem. The issue I have is that this offer is not based on LMIA. It is LMIA exempt. So I have a profile currently in CEC and I'm worried that if that gets selected and I changed employers mid application what will be the consequence

The consequence is that you lose the 50 points. The whole point of getting the 50 points is that the employer is supporting your PR so you stay with them until one year past PR.

OK let me pose a different question. I submit my CEC application after I join my new employer which is LMIA exempt offer. It seems I still cannot claim 50 points as I have to be employed for 1 year for LMIA exempt offer to be valid. No?

To get the 50 points on LIMIA exemption, you need to be with that employer for one year and then the employer needs to submit a new job offer stating full time work one year past you getting PR.

Yes, that's right. You cannot claim the 50 points.
