I live in downtown Toronto so I'm sure I could get to a passport office if I need to but I imagine they could be havoc during the summer, especially during a postal strike.

Also, I know someone who chose that option for their kid's passport and the passport just ended up being mailed anyway. When she contacted the passport office to ask why, their response was they'd sent it already and she was SOL. Fortunately, the passport did arrive in time for their flight a few days later.
I don't know when all this happened, but all experiences we've had with passport office relatively recently have been MUCH better. They had huge issues post-pandemic; now seems sorted. So much so they're offering (partial?) guarantees if passport not complete in 30 days.

Maybe I should order my notes too, my AOR is just 6 days after you and no FP request. I think people who had FP request actually got processed faster because they had some movement on their applications in the form of FP. What is the date on your notes? Just curious how long it has been since they assigned you the officer
They don't order FP requests for all, so just wait. I think the ones with FP requests might seem faster - but just because there's movement earlier than for others. The FP step and processing adds some time overall (or at least seems it).

It was earlier this year, maybe 2-3 months ago.

My friend applied on Thursday and today he is going to Passport Office to pick it up. His oath was on Monday last week. Pretty fast on the part of Passport Office.

OK this gives me confidence, thanks. Let's see if they also schedule me for an oath ceremony in the next few weeks. If I could complete the oath by early June then I should be able to get a passport ahead of my trip in mid-July. I don't mind paying for an express passport processing service if I have to.

Makes sense. Yeah I am not expecting FP for me, my background was completed along with the test, I just posted an observation I made that people who got FP are getting their applications moved LPP faster for some reason for Jan atleast, but my sample size is small hehe

There's a pilot project in testing mode now where some can apply online in parallel with the oath, and get the passport quicker - and I think in this program you don't need the 'guarantor' that freaks so many out. (A really excellent initiative, kudos to IRCC/passport office - I bet a lot will be happy when they roll this out). But it's small numbers so far that are getting invited to the pilot.

Different situation but I did a passport renewal online, and it was literally one week - delivered.

Anyway, I guess there are still occasionally issues - but it's a LOT better situation than a couple years ago, and they're actually improving.

For those who are waiting for LPP, if you look at the google sheet tracker, you will find out LPPs come in 4-day waves. March 11 to March 14, April 24 to April 28 and May 7 to May 11. (there are exceptions in between as well). So the next wave would likely be around May 21 to May 24.

Nice observation! Let's hope we are in the next batch!

My background was complete Feb 20th, test completed March 7th. No FP requested. Odd that those with FP are getting LPP and oath already. Those without are still waiting.

I am seeing a pattern I think it’s just Vancouver office.

I have a trip planned for October, I planned it before applying for my citizenship. Not sure if i will get the oath and everything soon, BC was done on Feb 21st, and test completed on March 24th. After passing LPP but if i haven't done my oath i am good to travel right? - i know its still 5 months ahead but one never know with IRCC (I already had the bad experience of waiting for 1 year and 7 months for my PR). Just want to make sure that my PR card it only becomes invalid once I attend to the oath ceremony, correct?

Correct, the PR card has to be cut with scissors during the ceremony.
