That's right, you can take it at any time during the test window that they provide. Doesn't matter what time of day as long as it's within the window.

Hey people, just got a ghost update on my account for today! I sent my fingerprints on the 24th and also received the test email today dated the 28th. Do you think the ghost update could be the fingerprints being received? Or is it just the test letter being issued today? The timeline on the tracker showed the test window being opened since the 23rd.

It happened with so many people’s.
Just fill technical webform and attached screenshots of error messages with it.
May be it will help
And try to login after one week or so

Any idea why would my background check remain in progress even after I took my test? Looking at the 2022 timesheet and this year it seems everyone is getting background check completed before their test gets scheduled..

You can't take the test before your background check is complete, but in your case, the update probably isn't reflected in the tracker.

Are you sure? Because in my case I received fingerprint request AND test invite the same day, and my BG is still in progress
