January 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

BG Check completed on April 23rd, no test invitation.

May 17th for me, only the BG check is completed, everything else "in process", no test invitation yet.

Hey, I have a friend who applied online January 2021. Her AOR was done July 27th. She got a fingerprint request 2 weeks ago and then her fingerprints done a few days after that.

This morning she got her test invite. When she went online to check her status via the dashboard, everything is still marked in progress, the fingerprints and test are listed as “waiting on you.”

Is it normal to have everything as IP and still get the test invite? Maybe everything is done, but they can’t mark it as complete until the fingerprints come through to confirm identity and criminal check? She just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how quickly things got completed once the test and fingerprints are done. Thanks for any insight.

FP request and test invite are separate events. BG checks are updated usually within a month or so after submitting fingerprints. Until then it says waiting on you. I received test invite and FP request on the same day, nothing new! FP request is only for background verification. Rest of the 3 fields (not oath) can still remain in progress even after test completion.

Got the citizenship test invite today to complete it between 24th Sep and 14th Oct. Here's the timeline:

Just received my oath update - for March 2022 .. 6 month wait, but I guess that's better than an endless wait with no updates whatsoever...

Jan 2021 applicant - completed test in July 2021, submitted passport copies in August 2021

I’m in the same boat, got May 12th BG completed but no test invite yet! I feel like they have stopped the process. I even changed my address 2 months ago on the website but on Ecas still shows the old address.

May 3rd BG completed. Everything else is still the same. They probably stopped processing done applications to use their resources towards Afghan refugee crisis and also elections came through.. otherwise the Oath ceremony dates shouldn't really be a few months later.

Yeah I think so too. It could also be that they are focusing on online applications since as you see in this thread most online applicants have gotten their test invites.

My husband just got an email requesting scanned copies of his passport to be emailed.

I got FP request in July, sent it in 2 days. it says we recd your fingerprints on 12thAug 2021 but no BG is still IP , nothing after 12th Aug , no test invite. Should I go for GCMS Notes.

Congrats man.. Let's hope everyone gets to see the same status soon.

Also, I think they should start in person oath ceremonies now. With vaccine passports (at least in Ontario) it's not very difficult to resume some sense of normalcy. Processing a bunch of people and handing out citizenship certificates at the same time, will get rid of all the online bureaucracy, backlogs and months of waiting times just for oath.
