Anyone got fingerprint request ?

I submitted my application in Jan 2020 and in Sept 2020 it went to In Process state.

Just few days ago I got fingerprint request. Is that common ? I asked a friend of mine who got citizenship last year didn't went for any fingerprint submission. I am worried now.

Sometimes it could be just because IRCC doesn't have your biometrics/never asked for them before. In my case, when I applied for a visa to first come to Canada, providing biometrics wasn't mandatory yet so I never submitted them. When I applied for PR, they didn't request them either. So I have a feeling they'll request them for citizenship since they don't have any on record for me.

Today marks 1 year since I sent my application in Oct 2019.
The package was returned for a missing checkbox, late Jan, which was returned immdly

I stand today with no AOR,

Hey, I'm curious how you got the FP request. Was it through snail mail or through email? And, did it update on your ECAS as well? Thanks!

Same for me. I never had any fingerprint request before. But on the Fingerprint request letter they mentioned that after reviewing my biographical information they think I need fingerprints verification. My First name and Middle name is very common so that might be the case. On other hand I haven’t even got a speeding ticket once so I should be good on the side.

Is it true that people from January 2019 are still waiting for test date? If thats it the case CIC needs to clear 1 year of backlog just for tests before they will reach January 2020

And its almost January 2021 in a couple of months

My application status changed to In Process on September 10, 2020. Could someone update my timeline on the tracker spreadsheet? Thanks!

There will always be outliers who have extremely long processing times. The people in the Jan 2019 group who still haven't received a test invite are in a totally different ball-park than vast majority of us i.e non-routine applications vs routine applications. Regardless, none of the 2020 applicants have received a test invite so there is a huge backlog and we will unfortunately see a great delay. To give context, approximately 250k people got approved for citizenship last year and approximately 220k in the first 10 months of 2019. This was up from 170k and 140k respectively in 2018 and 110k and 100k respectively in 2017! You can only imagine how a whole year of applications outstanding for 2020 may look like - I would not be too crazy to estimate 300k applications overdue!
This means IRCC has a year worth of applications that are in complete standstill. Therefore, we will undoubtably face delays but one can only imagine the delays applicants in the coming years will face - it wouldn't be completely out there to see the timeline rise to 2-3 years for 2021 applicants. I guess we can count our blessing there...

Got a finger print request this morning for my file. Can you please update. Thank you.
What is the fingerprint request letter language? Did they say that after reviewing biographical information they have questions about your application? I got a fingerprint request stating similar reason.
