The process takes 12 months. The fact that you have kids is irrelevant to IRCC and processing times. If you think your lawyer isn't helping, fire her, and manage the process on your own so you can ensure nothing is missed and you're in the loop.

If you applied in January 2019 I am not sure why you had the expectation you'd be done by now. The target timeline is 12 months - although sometimes faster, this is never a guarantee. It sounds like your expectations of timing were not managed properly.
