Dear all, may I ask about the 3/5 rule for citizenship application: Does it mean 5 years of residency in Canada or anywhere? Meaning, can I apply for citizenship after only 3 years of residency in Canada as PR (2 years before that, outside Canada)?
Thanks.

not sure about ECAS meaning but I am now able to view my application status using the number on my AOR .
Another thing is that it's still telling me the same thing as of 2 weeks ago: "application received"
is that what you all state ECAS ?
thanks

Yes, you can apply for citizenship, as long as you have completed 1095 days stay in Canada.

Hi all
I might sound stupid but what in process ECAs stands for?
sorry, I'm confused. After I get the AOR whats the next step?

Thank you
ECAS stands for Electronic Client Application Status.
Here's the link to check yours:
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=
As you already received your AOR email, it would be a good time to check it. You would need your Client ID (or some other options given in there), your last name, date of birth and place of birth.
It will show you the stages - Application Received, Under processing, Decision Made, etc.

Received AOR on March 20. Please update the spreadsheet on my behalf.

I think a few days is quite optimistic ;)

In other news, I ordered my Discover Canada (I like paper) last week, phoned the company today and they confirmed it takes 7-10 working days to post it. So if you applied with an email address listed and want a paper copy, order sooner rather than later just in case the test invite takes "weeks" as the website says.

Though I guess technically 6 months is still "(24-26) weeks".

You should have been physically present in Canada for at least 1095 days out of which at least 730 should be as a permanent resident.

1 day you spent in Canada as PR is counted as 1 day.
1 day you spent in Canada as TR is counted as half day.

So, it may be
730 (PR) + 730 (TR) or
731 (PR) + 728 (TR) or
732 (PR) + 726 (TR) or
733 (PR) + 724 (TR) or
.
.
1093 (PR) + 4 (TR) or
1094 (PR) + 2 (TR) or
1095 (PR) + 0 (TR)

ECAS is Electronic Client Application Status... After you Got the email about your application receieved, in about 2 days you should be able to track your progress on Online Application Status link using the File number given in your AOR. Please see my post just one minute back for the next steps.
Oh Ok!!!!! I got it now. Thank you so much for clarifying that.

The First step would be AOR, which is that you would get an email informing your case number and that your application has been received. You should start seeing this online after a day or two...In about 10-15 days you should see the online status to Processing from Application Received...in about 2-3 months.. you would get an email informing the date of examination (if FP is not asked) , DM made in about 10 days from exam and finally date of OATH in about 1-3 months...(depending on your location)... Hope this gives you good idea.. Just see the excelsheet and it will help you get some more idea.
Its more than a month that I received AOR but status is still received. It has not been changed to processing. Is it normal?

Well I've been able to login to ECAS now.

No idea when I should have been able to, I noticed I should have selected "England" instead of "UK - British Subject" on the login page :(
Oddly, it had my home address right but listed my mailing address as somewhere downtown Toronto that I've never lived.

However .. that may have been the address used by my lawyers for my PR. Would they have kept that on file and decided to potentially mail them instead? I hope they've not sent them anything, not dealt with them for almost 3 years.
You can update your address from ECAS.
