I just spoke to IRCC regarding my Eligibility and Security, both are not started yet. As my 6 months time has been completed, agent said that he would send some reminder, and asked me to check the account for any updates like ADR's etc.
Hi, is this the first time you are calling them post 6 months anniversary? I called July 15th on my ''anniversary'' and was told a reminder would be sent.
Nothing has happened since then and i was wondering if they could send multiple reminders or it is a one-off reminder.

Try not to call too often, because they make notes in your account when you call. I spoke to an IRCC agent last Monday and emailed the MP on Friday for the first time. When I called yesterday the agent said I've been calling a bit recently, and I explained that it was because what the IRCC agent and the MP told me were different things so I wanted to double check.
It doesn't impact your application in any way. They are a call center for a reason and it is normal to record details of the conversation had with an applicant.

Optimism is good but let's not get naive. You do realize that first statement is clear misinformation right?

Sure this doesn't apply to most people since they're in the clear and just waiting. But some of us are genuinely concerned about the fact that rejection is still possible this late in the game.. and the lack of transparency from IRCC is not helping, so we try to get what information we can and update IRCC accordingly
Hi buddy, sorry if you felt my reply is misleading. I am going by one fair assumption that most people here are honest with what they’ve submitted and hence have nothing to worry.

Rejections are given to people who have A. Either have not provided truthful documents and information or B. Not responded to IRCC in the given timelines

Over and above, when you are anxious about rejection, it’s normal but it’s only our anxiety at the end of the day.

I respect your opinion but still stick to what I said basis my above explanation

Don’t raise too many web queries. They might not give you the details again and again. You could call the call centre and enquire

I understand where you're coming from, but those are not exclusively the causes for rejection. There are some genuine, truthful cases where IRCC never requested additional documentation and rejected after 6 months because of technicalities

If IRCC officially says "eligibility not met" on an application, I imagine it's pretty serious

In my case, I had to finalize and submit my application the same week that I was wrapping up my livelihood and exiting the US. I wasn't intentionally trying to hide any information but I see how I may have overlooked some details. So I had to go back and review what I may have missed and proactively submit the updated documentation through the webform.. but it's still a gamble and it's uncertain

F. Why do BGC takes so long for some applicants?

If your application is stuck in the BGC and your GCMS notes show that everything else has been completed, then it could be wither of the two scenarios:

a) The application is stuck with CSIS. CSIS may be conducting an in-depth investigation into your file. This could be a result of your past military service, extensive travel to suspicious countries, known political or governmental affiliation. Sometimes it could be as remote as the company you worked for is under investigation by a law enforcement agency of a foreign country. Only since you were an employee, and not named in the investigation, CSIS will take its time to probe the issue before it gives its conclusive report.

b) The CSIS report is awaiting final review from IRCC: In most cases the delay is at this stage. CSIS after filing its report, the IRCC has to make a final review and a determination. When CSIS flags a few things, CSIS does not recommend that the application be cancelled, but it is on the IRCC to determine if based on the CSIS report an applicant would be inadmissible in accordance with IRPA. Most applications are held up here. This is because the IRCC will send that report to officials specifically trained to look into the inadmissibility issues based on security and they will make a final determination, which will then be approved by an agent.

G. What can an applicant do if his application is stuck at BGC?

If an application is stuck at BGC for a very long time, i.e. more than 3-5 months after your eligibility is cleared you have two options:

a) You can inquire about the status of your security check directly from CSIS. To enquire about the status of a an immigration screening file, the following information is required*:

a. a full name,
b. date and place of birth,
c. the signature of the applicant, and
d. a return mailing address as replies are not sent by email or fax.
e. If you are enquiring on behalf of another person, the request must be accompanied by the Consent Form to Disclose Information to a Designated Individual.
f. Mail or fax the request to CSIS at the attention of:
Assistant Director, Operations
Canadian Security Intelligence Service
P.O. Box 9732, Station T
Ottawa, ON
K1G 4G4
Fax: 613-369-2954
It takes CSIS 8 weeks to process these requests. Information on this is available at https://www.csis.gc.ca/scrtscrnng/index-en.php#bm02 Some applicants have successfully obtained information from CSIS.
b) If CSIS has finished the security screening, then your file is pending final review with IRCC. There is nothing much you can do at this stage. However, there is anecdotal evident that ordering GCMS notes does initiate the process. This is because every time you order GCMS notes, an agent will review the notes before releasing them. If the file has been reviewed by the Agent, and is pending posting the update on the system, the same will be done by the agent when he is reviewing the notes and this will move your file ahead.

Ok guys, so I'm in Canada, it's been a couple of years. Indian National , applied as FSW from Dubai. Have strong connections in Ottawa VO. (I'm sure Saurabh is reading this and knows who I am)

Their VO has inducted new COs lately. Handovers have been done and new guys have taken over the open cases. However, even though the cases were halfway thru by the previous CO, when the new CO gets a file, he's responsible for finally approving it. Hence he needs to check the previous half of the files again. Don't worry, he just verifies the supporting documents (that the previous CO attached to your file before approving a particular stage) and does not start the investigation all over again. If you look at year on year increase in the number of invitations, you will realize it's over 5%, but they had not added more COs.

If there isn't a negative communication on your application, there's nothing to worry about.

Patience, breathing, yoga, meditation is needed :)

Once you're here, life's tough. No maids, no-one to wash your car, no-one to cook and clean. And whenever you see airplanes, you think of your home country, your parents, siblings, friends. So enjoy all that while you can. Finding a job is tough. You might have to start from scratch so be prepared. Eventually its all super good. You love this country and you love how safe and secure you are. Education, health, old age, etc is taken care of. Better air quality, better standard of living etc. But as I said earlier, enjoy your home right now, company of your parents etc. Food, go for massages, get dental check ups, before you get your PPR.

All the best! I talk too much sometimes :)

I only got this information when I emailed Ralph's office. I called CIC the same day and they said eligibility 'in progress' and nothing new is required from me. Yet, I submitted the updated docs (that I had doubts about) just in case. 8 days after the email mentioning they received my webform, they sent another email about my case being 'in queue for review by an officer'. I haven't emailed Ralph again or even received my first set of GCMS notes.. Completely in the unknown here so waiting patiently
