Is it true that they are now starting the Back Ground Check in Mississauga?

We are outland applicants and we received the message "Your background check is in progress" in GCKey account shortly after we got SA and before they transferred our file to the VO. In the past, background check in progress showed after the file was transferred to VO and it seems after eligibility check is done, so for many the in progress status shows up later. However, we got the status right away along with the eligibility check in progress. Our VO is Mexico City.

Another member said that this appears to be happening in the case for some applicants. It might be for certain VO's only. Mexico is known to be notoriously slow and it might be due to the fact that they are processing applicants from over 20 countries and so this might be a new thing they are doing to help with the backlog with some VO's in order to be able to process most apps in less than 12 months, the new standard.

I do not know for sure as we have not received any emails saying this is the case. Our file was opened finally (received 7.5 weeks after file transfer) about 2 weeks ago at the VO according to eCAS which added the line 'We started processing your application on May 4", the unofficial AOR 2. We never got an email confirming our file was opened at the VO.

We submitted Schedule A around time of file transfer and they had my partner's PCC from his country upfront. If Mississauga did start processing the BGC, those would be the things they should have started to check out. Time will tell if this is the case and if it helped to speed up the process?!

We received RCMP certificate today and will be uploading through mycic. The whole process took about about 25 days from receiving the request to getting the certificate. Our background also began at the same time when we received the request from IRCC.

Just got off the phone with CIC this morning.
The woman told me that my Schedule A and PCC were attached to my account/ file even though I sent them ahead of time. So that was good to know that they had them.
She did say, however, that everything that needs to be done is Mississauga has been done. so she doesn't understand why it hasn't been transferred to the VO. So she said she will be sending them a message telling them that they need to transfer it.
she said it will most likely go to Ottawa. but my BGC hasn't even been started.
She said she's only doing this because it's been 3 months and we haven't heard anything.
I've read from the facebook group that this is actually normal for OUTLAND application.
Anyone else experience this?

Whoa this is interesting. We have almost the same timeline I think, and similar situation. Can you share what you said and what questions you asked on the call? I may try to call early next week - probably no chance tomorrow - and would like to avoid the "it's still within standard timeframe" response.

This morning my MyCIC account changed from "The next step is to conduct a background check.." to "We are processing your background check..."

Tonight me and my husband saw his ECAS and it said DM!!!

So is this it?! Really? Am I just waiting for a PPR email from them??

I don't think so it will take long sis. Coz us we received our PPR email right after our ecas change to Decision Made. Always check your email. Yay happy for you ^__^

Hi the pa is under background check for 6 weeks, I heard that the background check is the last stage of process, is that true?
It's been almost 5 months, really hope to get the visa before July .
And there is one problem, we applied as Outland , but recently we changed our plan and the pa has already come to Canada to live with me under a visitor visa . So if the passport is requested , can I ask then to send the passport to Canada since the pa is already here and we are trying not to fly back during the summer vacation to receive a letter solely.

That's fine. We are doing outland and still in the waiting process. My husband is planning to arrive in Canada next month. We will follow the CIC process and update his mailing address and then we will simply do the passport request to the Ottawa office.
