I don't think anyone can predict since no one knows how long the background checks take. They do criminal checks, security checks(done by CSIS) and sometimes may request fingerprinting. Depending on how soon those results come back and assuming there are no issues, it hopefully shouldn't be too long.

Received GCMS notes for sponsor (me), awaiting notes for applicant. Notes as follows:

"8 photos of PA, no biodata on back. SPR is CC by birth. SPR’s 2012 Opt C total income -----------. Employer’s letter dtd 2013/10/17 certifies full time permanent position and completion of probation. Pay stub is dated 2013/10/04. Welfare check not required. PA and SPR have a child who was birn in and resides with mother in Canada. No adverse information found. SPR meets eligibility criteria.
Passed decision. Letter emailed to SPR and APR file forwarded to VO. Shredded documents not reqd: 1. EI claims printouts from Service Canada account. 2. 2011 NoA 3. 2011 T4 slip 4.--------- Uni job posting."

Seems pretty accurate. My option C spanned the time when I was on maternity leave but that didn't seem to affect my eligibility as other supporting docs filled any questions about my employment viability beyond 2012-2013. Looks like I just received my husband's notes in my inbox. Will report if there's anything worth reporting. Also, I didn't know that I was supposed to identify my husband as himself on the passport photos but do like the comment that no adverse information found. Does that refer to our application as a whole or just me as as sponsor?

Whoa. Where was all that stuff written? I ordered notes and it was 27 pages of not very much. Maybe it's because I ordered for the applicant? I never realized there was a difference.

How do you order for the sponsor?

Yes Zarilenth. Basketballfan's notes seem to be referring to the sponsor and not to the applicant. I think you have to make separate requests for applicant's notes and sponsor's notes. If I remember correctly what I read, if you order your notes as sponsor, they are free of charge for you since its concerning you as Canadian individual (privacy act).

Yep that's right. I ordered mine seprately and only had to pay for my husband's notes. There's some interesting things in my husbands notes although in the actual 'Notes' section, which is what I posted for me earlier much of it repeats what was in my notes. I'm at work right now but will report in the afternoon today. :)

If you don't mind could you explain how you ordered your own notes? I'm a bit confused.

Here is my guess since Basketballfan seems busy.
You already are familiar with this form I guess: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563E.pdf

The differences between when you ordered for your husband and this one:
Section A question 1: check privacy act
Section A question 4: check yes
Section B: doesn't change, needs passport photocopy or proof of address
Section C question 1 and 2: skip as its same in section B
Section C question 5: choose Sponsorship File (my guess) or Immigration: permanent residence file or both.

This is how I would fill it but maybe Basketballfan could lighten up when he has some free time. :D

Thanks Edgehead! That is exactly what I did. Except I didn't attach any proof.. I didn't last time either. We'll see in a month if I did the right thing.

There were 3 options when I ordered mine from CPC-M - "sponsor", "sponsor and applicant" and "applicant". I didn't have my hubby's signed authorization, so I ordered just for me (sponsor).

Once you have a signed authorization for your spouse, select "sponsor and applicant", pay $5 and make the request under the Access to Information Act.

If you had:
1. signed authorization from your hubby
2. made request under Access to Information Act
3. paid $5
4. selected "sponsor and applicant"
5. office you are requesting notes from: CPC-M,

then you should get for both yourself and husband.

Isn't this what you did?

Also, remember each officer does it differently. I believe some do not put down many words.
