I have to redo medicals .. 500 $.. Wait no longer how long .. My lawyer says coz i m not from visa exempt country timelines differ.. Is that true? Why will they not accept 2012 oct medicals for jan 2013 applicants

Timelines differ by Visa Office regardless of whether or not you're visa exempt.

Timelines also vary from case to case.

The longest issue with most cases are 1) interviews; or 2) security checks. Security checks are mostly controlled (as far as time) by the foreign government. If you've lived in a country with poor diplomatic relationship with Canada, it's almost guaranteed security checks will take longer.

Almost there!

Tomorrow we are moving to Canada and my wife will land as a PR. Will let you know how it goes. Can't believe the time has come. :)

Received the following email from Ottawa this morning even though we got PPR request on Friday - What the heck???

Ø Provide evidence of adequate financial arrangements for care and support (not involving social assistance) that are in place for yourself in Canada. This may include, but is not limited to, paystubs, employment letters, and tax documents including the most recent 2012 notice of assessment (T4 & NOA) for both you and your sponsor. This must be received at this office by: 2013/08/29

Also - for the T4/NOA for 2012 - neither myself or my spouse changed our marital status during our last tax return due to accountants recommendation due to neither spouse being a resident of eachothers countries (US and Canada) and if we had changed it (as we got married in Nov 2012) it asked for the spouses' SIN number etc. which clearly we don't have. Is this going to raise a flag??? We were told we would change it for this tax year once my husband has landed and has a SIN number.

That seems to be the new thing for Ottawa. Request proof of financial support. I'm actually "pro" on this one. I hope all VOs are doing it.

We didn't send in tax documents. We sent in copies of two paystubs, another copy of the employer letter (same one) to show my husband is still working that same job, a copy of his savings account, and an unofficial transcript from my university showing my intended graduation date.

Decision Made today. I haven't gotten anything else, so it is positive.

So don't worry too much about tax documents. If CIC has to have them, they will tell you. I would only worry if you have moved to Canada during processing - aka you didn't have tax documents to send then, but you do have them now. Even then, just send what you think is best. I did that, emailed Ottawa a few days later. I told them what I sent and told them if they needed anything else, to let me know.

Right???? Crazy!!! We are each just sending in 4 of our most recent paystubs (8 total), a letter of employment from my work, and a letter of guarantee from my parents just saying should we ever need financial help they will help us. That's it! Do you think thats ok that we're not sending any tax paperwork in?

I think that's good. Ours is harder since my husband owns his own business and 2012 was his first full year. We'll show 2012 tax paperwork and 2013 invoices and bank statements for him. Hopefully immigration will be ok with it. I work remotely for a US/Canadian company and have done training in Canada. I have my 2012 tax info, and 2013 paystubs from my old job and from my new job. Once I get PR then I'll work out of my company's eastern Canadian office instead of from home. Hopefully that is enough too. :)

Hey guys,

I apologize for being MIA. Congrats to everyone else for receiving their COPR. My hubby landed June 5th and we have been going crazy trying to settle down. I must say it is a totally new experience that came with challenges and good times. Here's to more approvals and decision made!

Congratulations! This is great news!

Did your husband live overseas before? I know moving cross-country is hard enough. I can't imagine moving to a new continent. Keep your chin up! :)

Sweet deal!!!! Congrats MzTee!!! I must say I am immensely jealous that you are over and done with the process now!!! But happy for you none the less :)

Amikety - how long from when you sent your PPR(and im assuming their request for financial records came in the one email?) back to them to decision made? Also - did they confirm receipt of your documents at all?
