Hello lonely thread. We are all awaiting some good news and in the meantime I thought I'd ask a question.

Can anyone recommend the best way to send money from the UK to Canada.

When we move I'll want to basically drain our UK account and put the founds it into my Canadian one. Just wondering if anyone had any foreign exchange advice on this.

Thanks!

I used paypal to move my money >.>

Better exchange rates than the bank.

I had to make two paypal accounts, one in the USA and one in Canada, then "gift" myself the funds.

From what I see right now PayPal gives the worst exchange rate by a landslide. Possibly they've changed since you used it?

Could be. I also went USA to Canada. They might have a better deal for the USA versus UK. I liked having it setup that way though, because I can send money back to the USA anytime.... say to buy Christmas gifts for my family. That way I avoid international duty, shipping, etc. ;)

That's a brilliant idea.

Hi everyone!

I am applying out land from Sao Paulo - Brazil and i would also like to add my details on the spread sheet if that is ok. My destination in Canada is Halifax-NS

Here is my timeline:

Visa Office - São Paulo / Brazil

Medical exams - 05/11/2012
Application sent 23/01/2013
Application received - 24/01/2013
Stage 1 AOR - ? (not sure what it is...)
Sponsor approval - 01/03/2013

Thank you and good luck to all!

AOR is acknowledgment of receipt. Sometimes, the sponsor gets a letter or email from CIC saying "We got our package." That's pretty much it!

I'll add you now.

If you look into the UK thread, we were discussing that subject today actually, and there are a few people with good advice, so come and look here http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications-t49436.9300.html
