Just got off the phone with CIC... the woman told me they can't find my file and that because they are technically still working on files received January 3, 2012, she can't do a search on it yet. She told me to call back in 2 weeks.

:'(

Mine was received on the 6th and I still haven't heard anything. And of course when we phone they won't tell us anything since they are 'working on the 3rd' so don't worry. Yours is probably just be in the slow stack with mine ;) I think we just have to be patient. I think they must have gotten quite a few apps with the start of the new year.

but they said "processing time is 55 days" so i think you should call them again and again until they give you positive feedback or update processing time again.
:)
best of luck

It's quite possible that people who would have sent their packets during any other month delayed filing their applications until the next month, January, because they were so busy with holidays during December, thus the higher number of applications in January. Since CPC-M has to both review undertaking applications and issue AOR communications now, I don't think it's helping them be more efficient.

Im seeing a pattern lol... Visa offices being Bufallo. I know, or I hope at least, that can't be the reason but who knows.

I realize I have received AOR but that was almost 3 weeks ago.

Anyway it'll come soon.

Stay strong everyone... I'm counting down the days until I see my husband next. 13!!!!!!!!! It's a lot better of a countdown then waiting for approval :)

There's no relationship between which visa office will be responsible for processing the PR portion of the file and how soon the Case Processing Centre begins working on the sponsorship portion.

Are you sure? In the case of New Zealand applicants it's not possible to do a criminal background check in advance. All the applicant can do is provide a signed document authorizing immigration to submit a criminal record request to New Zealand on behalf of the applicant. I imagine this must slow things down measurably for New Zealand applicants.

Yeah but it's not Mississauga's job to examine anything pertaining to the PR portion of the file, i.e. the portion relating to the principal applicant and secondary applicant/s, if they exist. That's for Sydney to do.

Ahh ok. I though maybe they needed to get the police certificate before they could send it on to the Australian VO, but that makes more sense, what you said.

I can't imagine being away from my husband for even just 13 days. :S I really feel for you... and the others in that situation. Can I ask, what the reason is for the two of you to be apart? I assume its so you both can continue working in your respective countries?
In our case I was granted an 18 month visitor visa so we could stay together during the application process... but to my surprise it has been very hard to find an employer who is willing to apply for a work permit on my behalf, or even knows how to. Expensive vacation. :S
