You require only one PCC and that is only for India.

Asivad..you are doing a fantastic jobs in terms of helping others..I have been constant follower of each and every messsage posted by you in a silent way..I have a similar Qs pertaining to the PCC for India. i have got ITA today but I have got PCC done a week back from local police as well as passport office.

Q. I have to get a PCC done for Noida(Currently staying for last 6 yrs), Lucknow(2 yrs at before Noida at one address and another address since birth)..I have got a PCC done from the SSP of Noida but the certificate mentions that I have been staying in Noida from the last 6 yrs(Date & year from 2009 mentioned in the PCC issued) and I have no criminal record....Is that perfectly fine or do i have to get PCC done from Lucknow as well, where I used to stay 6 yrs back but not anymore...On a safer side I also got PCC done through passport office that issues for the entire country but as the rules changed in May, PCC is not acceptable from passport office for my state(Uttar Pradesh).

The confusion is there as it is clearly mentioned that you have to get a PCC done from all territories where you have stayed for more than 6 month. In my case it is India only but its is in one state only but two different districts and 3 address. Also while filling up the ITA it is asking for all the addresses where you have stayed in the last 10 years.

The same answer again - PCC is for the country no matter if you have moved around within the country. CIC probably trusts the relevant authorities to tap into some national grid of some sort to report criminal activities anywhere in the country. There haven't been any reports of members being asked for province/state specific PCC(s) yet and quite a few Indian applicants have got PPR or are in the final stages now.

Thanks...Much appreciated...you rock

In case their is a criminal preceding against a person, a copy of report is sent to the local police station of the permanent address of the person irrespective of the state one commits the crime... so invariably all police records will always be found at your local police station... so asivad is right on stating the fact that you only require clearance for the country and not for individual states.

PCC for India can be dont online thru the passport office/police website, but its asking for a document from the concerned authority asking for the PCC...should i upload the ITA letter ? coz it obviously says nothing about the PCC in general....im kind of confused ....any help ?

The ITA letter may be submitted as the document from concerned authority asking for PCC.

You can also add this checklist from FSW 2014 which lists PCC as mandatory requirement (Pg 3).

Anyone applied for PCC in Bangalore ? How long does it take?

Can PCC still be obtained from Passport Seva Kendra? The CIC website has been updated and now states the following.

"For residents of Punjab: You can apply to your local Senior Superintendent of Police, or the senior ranking police official at the police station in your District.

For residents of other states: You can apply at your local District Police Station.

For residents of Delhi: You can apply at your local District Police Station or online on the Delhi Police website or on the Passport India website. The Web site will list what information and documents you need. If you apply online, your certificate will be returned to you electronically."

Earlier it did mention Passport Office as an option for Residents of other states as well. If anyone submitted application recently please confirm. Getting from Passport office saves a lot of hassle and preferred option.

Me and my wife had applied for India PCC before I received my ITA. I am presently living in Mumbai. I am originally from Kerala and have stayed in Tamil Nadu for my education and worked in Kolkata for 3 years and then was abroad for 6-7 years. I had applied thru PSK in Mumbai and they did not ask me for any documents other than address proof(I had rent agreement, post paid phone bill and bank statements) all showing my present mumbai address.

After submitting the application in PSK, 2 days later police came to my house for verification and asked to show my existing passport, degree certificates, PAN card, marriage certificate and asked to report to police station with the same set of documents and its zerox. Within two weeks I got my PCC issued by PSK and they also put a stamp on my passport saying PCC was issued for Canada.
