Reason your friend couldnt get a job par with his prior experience might be because he didnt have any prior canadian experience and he completed his masters in US. Canadian employers mostly prefer candidates who understand their work ethnic, which a immigrant can get through Canadian education/co-op programs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He had never mention about the Canadian experience. He was not aim the managerial position for a moment because he targeted to get a job as soon as possible, so I think his job now is some kind of survival job.

Yes, there myth about Canadian experience requirement. But, some of my friends (at least 3) in Canada have never got demanding of the Canada experience. Maybe, IT is an emerging industry, so even Canadians did not have experience in Canadian IT. :D

Sigh! Im not really sure IT people are really given the proper place in the world now... Its sad really... but then again... we gotta adapt right... My idea is just see what i can do once i get over there to keep a job.. or you know work my way upto a PR... Later.. Im not going to be too worried about the PR though.. I want to first go study and get a work permit and see how things can move from there.. Sometimes planning too much is just the problem... huh belitang? lol

IT professional get higher income compare to others in average. So, IT guys still get proper place in the world :D. Since my country just next to Australia and New Zealand, I can tell you that IT is long term shorted in both countries, especially New Zealand. So, don't worry, IT still demanded, but yes it is decrease gradually. If global economic become better than IT will be the first to be shorted. In this current global economic situation, going study is the best to work with you future.
