No. It's not expired.

PPR on June 15. My child's passport had only 6 month validity. So, I renewed thr passport. My lawyer said you can't send new passport in the existing PPR and I needed a new PPR
Does your lawyer know that or is he guessing? Is he actually a lawyer? Where is that written? Does the PPR mention the passport number to be sent?

You can send in new passport and they will stamp visa on that. I have personal experience in that. My spouse's passport had expired and I had sent the new passport and IRCC had stamped it with the visa. There was no need to get a new PPR.

Not sure on what basis your lawyer said that. If you already have a valid PR visa and COPR, and if your passport expires, you can renew your passport and still use the PR visa as valid visas even on expired passports are still valid.

Hello sir.

@legalfalcon
No, I don't have a valid PR visa or the copr.

This PPR request is for work visa. In the PPR document, it's mentioned that visa will be stamped only till the passport validity. So I renewed my child's passport once I read that PPR letter.

My company lawyer replied the following

""" please hold off on submitting the new passport until the new OPR is received for your child, so that visa will be issued for thre full validity period """

Yes, he/she belongs to a lawyer firm. My company deals with their firm.

Yes, you're right, passport number is not mentioned in the PPR letter.

So, you sent the new passport without informing IRCC via webform first?

Coming back to the core question:

If we renew a passport after getting PPR/OPR (btw I don't know the difference between PPR and OPR), Should we inform IRCC via webfrom about the new passport and wait for new PPR/OPR request?

Or can we send the renwed passport in the first got PPR/opr request without informing IRCC?

Submitted new passport and got full validity of the visa.

Things I did:
1) informed IRCC about new passport via webform.
2) submitted new passport with old PPR copy after I received response for the webform.

No issues faced, got 3 year valid visa on the new passport.
