Is WES evaluation recognized in Canada?

I found this website www.wes.org which mentions its services as providing evaluation of foreign-trained individuals' education to the equivalent of their credentials in Canada's education system.

Has anybody ever used this program and has it been a factor in getting work in Canada, specially for newly-landed immigrants?

ok... the reason why I am asking this is because it is common knowledge that Canada generally does not recognize educational qualifications from other countries (there may be exceptions).

With the WES evaluation as indicated in their website, aspiring immigrants such as myself may know our education's equivalent in Canada. For example, an engineering degree from XYZ country might be credited as a technical/trade course.

I am not aware about the criteria for these evaluation, my main interest only is if this evaluation has any actual value in the real world, that is when applying for jobs.

Any takers here?

When you say that "Canada" does not recognize qualifications, then you are talking about all employers/universities in Canada. This is absolutely not true. In your field, your qualifications may be recognized or by the employer that you find. Do not waste your money on educational equivalency tests unless you need them.

For example, when I first arrived in Canada, I wanted to take a course. The college told me that I have to take a TOEFL as well as go to an equivalency agency and pay $200 plus untold translations of documents to prove that I had at least 11th grade math. I wrote them back that I had spent several months in the US some years ago doing a course as well as most of my textbooks at university were in English, also that I have a B.Sc. from a foreign university, it would have to be pretty bad if I didn't have at least 11th grade math. They agreed that the requirements were stupid and dropped them.

For an engineer or other profession who needs to get licensed in Canada, they should only deal with the professional association in their province to find out what they need to do to get licensed.
