For residency requirement, any day spent outside canada is not counted towards citizenship except as mentioned in following link:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=370&t=5

If the person is RQ'ed and then goes to Citizenship Judge and convince the citizenship judge by providing a genuine reason for being short of physical presence then it is upto the judge to decide to give citizenship or not.

If you have less than 1095 days of physical presence then don't apply, if already applied then withdraw the application and only apply after you qualify else you have to go through a lengthy process of RQ and then meeting with citizenship judge.

There aren't any such clauses.
