Buying round trip tickets to Canada today and want to stay as long as possible on this visit, without extending the allowed amount on a passport visit. I hate to buy the return ticket now in case I have to return sooner, but best to keep the border officer happy I suppose.
So, do I buy a ticket leaving say, November 15th and return May 15th or do I count a certain amount of days?

We mailed our packet on October 10th and I understand if it's returned for any reason it would at this point be returned to my sponsor. After SA does it get returned to me, the applicant for PR if there is anything missing/incomplete? I ask because I will not be home to get it. I do have a house sitter but want to know if I should ask them to be watching for mail from CIC. The sponsor and I both provided our email address.

Thanks for your help.

the CIC site just says "6 months from the day you entered Canada" if there is no stamp in the passport, so the number of days will vary slightly depending on exactly what months fall in the range. I see no other interpretation that if you arrive on Nov 15, then leave by May 15 and not worry about exact number of days.

It'd be May 14, though.

Thanks I ended up booking flights for Nov. 23rd and returning May 18th. (It's a leap year, so 29 days in February.) I'm nervous, I count 178 days, hope I did it right.
