Congrats! The bigger surprise is that they sent it by email... Hopefully this is a good sign...

Hi..What's the approx wait time after receipt of the AOR..? what are the next steps..? any idea on what's the assessment criteria ..?

Thx..

Does anybody have any idea what the latest processing times are ??

I dont think CIC website is being updated .... 8 months for 80% applications does not seem to right if you are receiving AOR after 4 months ???

Well... Did some quick stats on recently approved CEC applicants from the Trackitt website (approvals from July 2010-present).

Average time to approval, 293 days (nearly 10 months).

The worst part - for this group, AORs took 1.5 to 2 months.

trackitt.com/canada-immigration-trackers/canadian-experience-class

I think you can expect a minimum of 1 year for processing, unless something drastically changes...

Thanks for the info Jes_ON ...

I read your comments one of the other post stating that your work permit expires in Jan 2011 ... what are you planning to do if you don't hear from them before that ??

Hi asifS,

My employer will be applying for a new LMO shortly (almost done with the advertising). If that doesn't work out, not entirely sure what I will do.

Correct me if Im wrong - arent we allowed to stay 3 months from the work permit expiry date, if we have already applied under CEC? It is not our fault CIC did not get back to us on time, is it? If Im wrong, then is the only option to apply for LMO?

Well, please do tell me where you saw this! I have never heard/read such a thing. Besides, there's no guarantee that 3 months more would be enough...

The only "3 month" rule I know is that you can apply to restore your status within 90 days if your permit actually expires... but to restore status, you have to be eligible for status. As far as I know, the only options are -

1) Get a new LMO and apply for a work permit renewal (neither are guaranteed).

2) If you can't get a new work permit, apply for a change of conditions to visitor (no working allowed. Not working is not an option for me, but if I can get work (telecommuting) in the States and the visitor status allows me to stay and/or keep my stuff in Canada while I wait, that would be worth it. The alternative is driving a U-Haul across northern Ontario in January - not something I really want to do (not to mention having to leave my partner).

3) Waste a ton of money moving out of Canada, only to waste a ton more moving back in a few months once your application is approved (this is the optimistic version). Since you will then have depleted your savings, have no established residence or job, and relationships are under stress or in tatters, the delay will have completely defeated the purpose of the CEC class in the first place, and the government will have done its job.

4) is unmentionable.

PNP applicants can get work permits, why not CEC? Time to write the Minister...

Thanks for your reply again Jes_ON

Can you please let me know whats the process for the LMO ..

My brother who applied the same time as me under CEC, but his work permit expires July 2011 ... so just needed some idea what options he has ...

The LMO is something that the employer has to apply for -
