You don't need any income to sponsor but you do need to satisfy the visa officer that you and your husband will be able to support yourselves once he arrives in Canada. So anything you can show about how you will support yourselves will be helpful. A letter from relatives stating you two can live with them while looking for a job, proof of savings, any job offers for your husband and yourself, any income you have, etc. can all be used.
