Muby the last sitting day is June 23rd, After that the Parliament goes to summer recess.
There are still a lot of steps needed this Bill to became a Law.

The time is just not enough, because approx. only 2 sitting weeks left and the Senate didn't even started the pre-study yet.

Most likely this Bill will be postponed for the Autumn - Winter session.

There is simply not enough time left before the recess. The Bill is in the mid-way still.

when the Liberal said last year, they insisted on immediately revoke the unfair bill C24, unfortunately the immediate will take forever to be in force! Welcome to Canada land of wait and wait

What they say during election campaign means nothing. Everyone promises the moon to get elected until they get into office when reality comes crashing down.

do you really then want to be in this third world country called Canada then? Citizenship is not a right it has to be earned and if the rules are to change it will take as long as it takes thats democracy unlike some real third world countries.

Bcz I was in Canada working visa so I want my one year get counted

That's it

Proposed bills have to go through first reading, second reading, committee, report, third reading, senate and finally Royal Assent by the Governor General.

All of this takes time. The bill will likely not be approved until 2017, by which time all those currently "waiting" will have been eligible under the 4/6 rule anyway.

We would have been eligible under the old 3/4 system, but 2 months away from applying the 4/6 rule came in so we had to wait another year. However, because of the dramatically reduced timelines of the new system, we'll likely get the Citizenship by, or even before, we would have under the old 3/4 system.

The Liberal Party did not write the Constitution of Canada. They took action to revoke elements of the C24 bill within a fair time frame of coming into office, but it is not the Liberal Party's fault that there are lengthy procedures involved in getting laws changed.

These procedures are as much for Canada people's protection and interest as they are an inconvenience, so I think we should respect the process. The C-6 bill almost certainly will be passed - people just need to learn some patience.

I think petient had a limit, when you had to wait for a year more to apply for the citizen that not good. That all promises the made before election was just a lie. I cannot belived it cannot pass in the summer...... Hopeless politician. So much dissapointed

When the Conservatives changed the system from 3/4 to 4/6 they ALSO streamlined the system, removing the need for a citizenship judge. So whereas it may take longer before you can apply, the process itself will take much less time - probably the total time to get the Oath ceremony is about the same anyway, or maybe even quicker.

I was 2 months away from being able to apply on 3/4 system when they changed it to 4/6 so I had to wait another year. But then you don't hear me complaining, because I know overall I am getting the citizenship at least as quickly as if I had applied a year earlier, if not sooner, because of the much streamlined process.

We all hope it will be approved sooner than later :'(

Did anyone watch the debate yesterday? The bill was stopped from reading, today it is not on the agenda. With only a few days before recess, this is not a good sign

I watched. CONs kept on bringing refugee issues and had minimal debate on C-6. Liberals kept saying Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian. Most MP were not even at their desks. Don't expect much action until September.

And looking at how uncooperative Senate CONs are with Assisted dying and RCMP Union bill, chances of C-6 ever passing through are very bleak.

Just keep calling your MP, Minister John McCallum and PM Trudeau that you want liberals to push this bill through.
