CIC's website states: "You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18."

I left my home country 3 months after my 18th birthday, and have not lived there for more than 6 consecutive months since then. D

Do I still need to get a police certificate from my home country?

Thank you!

Re: PCC question

No

My friend who applied under CEC before EE left home to Canada to study few months before 18th birthday, and never lived 6 months continuously. She was not requested PCC from home country and just got PR.

Though CIC might still ask for it later anyway, and you might need one from RCMP. But that's after initial application.

My other question is: What if you lived in your home country for more than 6 months total, but never continuously?

Re: PCC question

Thank you.

Based on my understanding, only consecutive months count.

Anyone else in a similar situation/knows someone who is, please share your experience.

I would say, yes. You were over 18, and you lived there consecutively for at least 6 months.

The situation described by the other poster is different, where the person left the country before turning 18.

As yourself this - is it worth jeopardizing your ITA and having your application refused as incomplete to get out of providing one PCC? (There are a few countries or circumstances where the answer may be yes, but ...)

ABSOLUTELY YES!! At least from my experience, I came to canada at 17 for school and i only went back home twice and each time for 2 weeks only, but lo and behold I was still asked to provide police certificate >:(. which i did anyway even though i turned 18 in canada.I am now in background check stage.
