Hello, as I am applying in the next few weeks for PR, is Outland or Inland route still faster? As I was informed a while back, Outland was faster, but I am not sure if this is the case anymore. Thanks!

Best way is to check out the spreadsheets:

Inland 2017: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...b18_tcSJwBhA/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=1524155556

Outland 2017: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...wZbXo73hsxoXaLSJ5-tcm7qnJI/edit#gid=504739638

Scroll to the side and you can see the average number of days for inland is 355, if you look at the summary page on outland you can see for many visa offices the average number of days is less, in many cases more like 250.

I did this comparison before I decided to apply inland for my wife (as she wanted to apply for OWP). It's only about 3 months difference. I find that no biggie, but to some people it's a big deal.

Yeah if you’re wanting an OWP then it’s not much of a difference to have to wait a few extra months. But also with inland you can’t leave during the process or appeal if you get denied so for many people Outland feels like a safer option.

Ok I see, thank you for the information.

As I am briefly looking through the application, I can't see where to choose whether to be Outland or Inland. I am currently, and planning to reside in Canada while I wait for my PR application. How do I apply Outland while I am residing in Canada? I know you can, but I just don't know how. Also, if a interview is needed, will they do it in Canada instead of my home country if I apply Outland since I'm in Canada? Thank you

Question 4 of a form (cant remember which) where it asks class of application and there is three checkboxes.

Thank you, I was reading somewhere that if you apply Outland and you need to do a interview, it is to be had in the country you apply from. Would I have to go back to conduct this interview, or can it be scheduled in Canada?

I am American. So if called I couldn't do it in Canada?

If you apply outland and are called for an interview - it will be held in the US and you have to attend the interview there. As said, unlikely you'll need to attend an interview. But always some possibility.

Huh okay. I don't know what the "better" route is then as I don't care for a OWP but also don't want to fly back if needed an interview.

I wouldn’t worry about that. Interviews are very very rare for Americans
