My passports are with Canadian High Commission London.Might come back in next 10-15 days with visa stamps. But now I have started wondering if it will be right decision to relocate myself to Canada.I am doing very well as of now.Every year my family is going on holidays to different parts of the world.Savings are on the higher side, standard of living is at par with with west.India is only 3hrs flight, twice a year we are visiting India.
I am confused. This is one decision which is going to have a big impact in the long run.Seniors,i need advice and guidence.

I too is in a similar predicament when i started applying for PR. Our passport will soon be released with our visa stamp and i started to question what the future holds for us in Canada.
I work as an expat in Bangkok, my package is very good, annual vacation flight ticket paid by the company for me and my family, paid private schooling, paid housing... all the regular benefits of an expat.....the beauty is low standard of living in Bangkok.
I guess the reason I decided to apply for PR status in Canada is securing the future for my children, with the recent global financial meltdown, my position as an expat does not really give job security in the long run. I guess I have decided to take a big risk of opening my own business in a country that recognize hard work and perseverance.
Canada has a lot to offer my children in terms of top notch schooling (which is free) in preparing their future. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, the main reason of my move is for a better future for my children, it may mean a bit of sacrifice on my part and a re-look at our lifestyle, but in the end, I'm sure it will all pay-off and now is the perfect time to do this while I am still young and still marketable in case the business fails....

Just wanted to share my thoughts.....

awaranag, you are not under any compulsion to use your PR visas infact CIC will refund you your RPRF if you and your
family members don't use your visas so you can decide not to use it at all. I just feel that you are only showing it off
after you have got it, no matter what people tell you on this forum, what you will do is on your mind so why showing off?
If you like, call london and tell them you are no more interested so they can stop issuing the visa. You are not even sure
they will issue your visa because what you fail to realise is that it is a dangerous game to show off when you don't have your
visas at hand. If you want to show off, not on this forum please. Find somewhere else to do it.

Be ready for some things when you move to canada:

1) they will not keep you on par with their own people , you may not be eligible for your profession , you may have to pass exams & study , and people with no experiance and less qualified then you ( but who have studied there ) will be ahead of you. No matter how good you are in your field/profession , you will find few openings......be ready for 3-5 years of catching up to get yourself equated to "canadian standards "
2) it makes perfect sense for a person who is still struggling to get a good job to go there , but in your case.... , well take ur decision

Dear Chandan....I suppose u have taken me wrong.Canada is not end of the world.May be for u it is a dream destination but not for me.When I had applied....I was in different state of mind...but as they saying goes......Fortune and thinking keeps on changing.
Maybe u r somewhere in India and u want to move out but in my case,I am out of India since 93 and I am only 37yrs of age.I have worked in Hong Kong,Egypt,Greece and currently I am in Middle East.
What I said I meant it...I am confused about Canada

Why confused? You have worked in so many countries and only 37 years young. You should look at the brighter side, you will be having a larger playing field in Canada plus having America in close proximity also improves you chances of leading a successful life. Have confidence in your abilities and skills.

Just my 2 cents.

guys. stop fighting. now we all know it's our choice to move to canada and no matter what we say or do, we can't decline that we have an desire to move 2 canada that's the reason we applied for pr in the first place. right! and it's everybody for himself. u have to decide whether u want 2 go or not. if yes, then it's gr8. and if no, then u may have ur own reasons. awaranag, it's ur choice, but u must keep in mind there is a lot of diff between canada and middle east. u just can't compare the 2. and if u feel middle east has lot more than canada 2 offer then don't move 2 canada. it's as simple as that.

awaranag,

how i compare middle east to canada, and prefer canada over middle east, is not in terms of the hardships, lifestyle and acceptability of one's skills etc., rather i look at the residency status in middle east! no matter how long you render your services in middle east, you will never get their citizenship. and the time will come when you want your children to go for professional education into countries like USA or canada. so my suggestion (only a suggestion) is that you move to canada, get your citizenship in 3-4 years, and see if you still have prospects of settling there in your business and personal life. if yes, then nothing like it, otherwise you can always move out of canada and rest of the world is open to you, given your rich work profile. atleast you will have the canadian passport.

and, it is natural to be confused in your case. hope your decision, whatever it maybe, proves to be beneficial for you and your family.

Get you visa, land in Canada, get your SIN, do not quit from your current job, go back to your home country where your current job resides, then start applying Canadian jobs thru the net and thru friends in Canada. Go back to Canada once somebody will hire you, and this is the only time to resign from your current job. But prepare yourself to travel to Canada whenever you will be called for an interview. If you will loose your residency because of non compliance of the required number of years to stay, then no pressures for you because you have a good job presently.

I think awaranag is now more confused than the beginning!!!
What do I understand is that he has to struggle hard (may be very hard) in Canada to reach to his current level.
I have lived in Middle East and worked there more than two decades!. What I experienced is that those who work in good companies / reputed employers, they get many things FREE in addition to their tax free salary. Ex: Free housing/accommodation, car/transportation, medical, food/food allowance, air tickets to home country for self or family for those with family status..etc..etc. Some companies do provide even more facilities.

A person like awaranag, who may be enjoying such benefits (or perquisites), however, will not be happy in Canada.

Rest is imaginable.

Awaranag, take an appropriate decision. The ball is in your court!!.
