Hello,

I would just like to ask if anyone had the same experience as mine or if anyone may be knowledgable about requesting for urgent processing.
I just passed mine and my husband's papers to CPC in Ontario for spousal sponsorship. I received an email that the have just received it last 18th of May 2016. We've been together for 9 years and got married just last March 31st when I went home for a 30-day holiday. When I came back to Canada, I just learned that I am now pregnant with our first child. Is it possible to request for urgent processing to CIC? Because I was hoping that my husband can arrive here before I give birth, as I do really need his support since it is our first time to have a child. Or if possible, will he be allowed to apply for a tourist visa to come and help me when I give birth?(though I've heard that you are not allowed to apply for tourist visa if you have a pending processing of application to CIC so I doubt that this'll work).

Hopefully someone might help. Thank you very much :)

Regards,

Teppy

The birth of a child will not have any effect on how fast they process your application unfortunately. He's allowed to apply for a TRV during the PR process, but it's fairly difficult.

No, CIC will not expedite your application.

Yes, you can apply for a TRV while family sponsorship is in process. Your husband will have to show sufficient ties to his home country and satisfy a visa officer he won't over stay to be approved.

Depending on your husbands country of residence and visa office that will process his application, it's entirely possible he will be approved and landed as a PR before you give birth.

They won't honor urgent processing. Your husband is allowed however, to apply for visitor visa to come see you, the issue is that since you're pregnant and married with pending PR application, it might be difficult to be approved since they might assume the family ties in Canada are too strong for him to want to go back home. It wouldn't hurt to try however. Just make sure you send lots of documentation to prove he will return home. (Post in the visitor visa section of this site)

What country is he from? Since it looks like you won't give birth until about 7-8 months from now, chances are he could get PR visa before that time.

Hello mikeymyke,

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I was actually thinking even if he is allowed to apply for a visitor visa, it would be extremely difficult to prove that he will not overstay given the circumstances. He's from the Philippines. I've also checked the processing times in the CIC website and it says 13-14 months I think. I wonder if it will really take that long because I really need him here when the baby's about to come :(

The processing times listed are what timeframe 80% of applications are processed within, and with a strong application you can expect to be processed much faster than posted times.

Thailand is listed as 29 months and a friend on the forum has DM and PPR in just under 8 months.

Wow. That was quick. It really depends per case, huh. That has helped in keeping my hopes up. Hopefully our application will be processed soon

you cannot Jump the in front of the line because there is other people ahead of you and you have to wait like everyone else
Clam down i am not hoping to jump infront of the line as i applied in December i am just hoping to get mine in time . My 16 months r over in march 2017 my due date is in January2017 . I just hope my husband to be here in time . My pregnancy wasnt a plan one . I went to visit my husband though i was taking contraceptive still got pregnant. or else we would have planned it when he would be here or near that time .

Carol is right. Jumping the line is exactly what you're trying to do - you asked if there was any way to expedite processing. You may not have thought about how that's really insulting to everyone else waiting, asking if there was a way you could go in front of them. I hope you realise now how wrong that was.
