In my outland application, both my partner and I are still working or living in the same place still.

Is it alright to put in the date fields for example: 2011-11-20 to Present <--?

Can I write "present" or the actual date the application was filled out?

Thank you.

People have reported doing both successfully. If you write in present, you don't need to worry about the actual date you'll mail it, though you'll need to do it by hand. :)

My wife ended up putting the actual date she filled out the form...obviously she stayed with me beyond that point but it was never an issue :)

Ditto... I always advocate not trying to "beat the system". If it wants a date, give it a date. The people that designed these forms knew what they were doing.. Why try to second guess them?

Yes, but..... What happens when you are filling in employment stats and you have to put end date for employment in which your position is ongoing? If you put the current date the VO could interpret that as last date you worked, if you were unlucky.

However, playing "Devil's Advocate" here, the only date that you can guarantee that something is happening "up to" is the date that you sign the form. You might receive the divorce papers or the termination notice the very next day. ;D ;D

That's what I did: writing 'Present' by hand.
