Hi There,

I 'am in Toronto Working for a fortune 100 company, and my company wants to sponsor a PR process for me, and my immigration attorney asked me to take IELTS test, is it necessary ? I moved from US after working for 7 years

is it really required ?

I assume you are applying as a Federal Skilled Worker or Canadian Experience Class? If so, then yes, IELTS is mandatory. No exceptions granted. See:

Yes, it is mandatory.
EFFECTIVE December 23, 2010: If you are submitting a language test with your application, the results are now valid for 2 years from the time you took the test, instead of 1 year. This change applies to Federal skilled worker, Canadian Experience Class and Business Class Immigrants (investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people).
 
I thought IELTS is not required when you apply PR thru PNP. Is this right?
