Is getting OWP(Spousal sponsorship Inland) at the boarder possible?

It seems like some people are attempting to get an OWP as per the new pilot at a port of entry.. Is this possible? If so, what would be the process? Which documents should I bring?

No, you have to send the application in and wait for it to process, you can't just show up at the border and ask for a work permit. They will mail it back to you once it's approved. The new pilot project it just to fast-track the open work permit for people who have applied inland for permanent residency. The ones who already sent their application in still have to wait for the OWP to be approved and sent in the mail.

actually, this is not 100% true. someone recently just posted on the inland thread last week about their experience about going to the border and applying for a work permit there. i think it depends on what stage of processing an applicant is at. they may not give OWP per the new pilot program, but it doesn't mean work visas can't or won't be given at the border. it does happen and is dependant on each person's own circumstance.

I have read the post about the applicant who went to the border with a job offer and came away with a work permit afterwards. Could someone please elaborate on what grounds, and in what stage in the inland application process this is possible? There are more than a few pertinent details missing from that story.

Perhaps that person was a US citizen and had a job offer that falls under NAFTA regulations. In this case with job offer and credentials in hand you can apply for and get the work permit at any border crossing.

Also I believe people with successfully approved LMIAs, can also "land" at a border to get their closed work permit.

A person with a job offer and LMIA can flagpole to get a closed work permit. This is not related to spousal sponsorship and it seems a lot of details are missing from the other posts.

I believe Aurora71 was able to get the OWP by flag poling at the border after she gotten AIP. She was a US citizen mind you.
