I am sponsoring my spouse and have a confusion regarding Canada Workers Benefit (CWB). Is it considered as a social assistance? As in my proof of income CWB is marked as yes.

No, it is a tax credit.
Thanks for the quick reply. I am filling the form no 1344e and I am working since last 3 years and having a regular income. So there is a question in this form

Are you in receipt of social assistance for a reason other than disability?

Should it be marked as yes or no?

Thanks for your help

You are not receiving social assistance unless you get payments from the province like Ontario Works.

So you are not on social assistance
Do you know any immigration website or anywhere its written or mentioned that CWB is not social assistance. As my immigration agent is adamant on opting that its a social assistance. Is he misleading me? and what if I proceed according to him, will this affect my case? thanks for your guidance

It’s NOT social assistance. Social assistance is like Ontario Works . Administered by the Provinces . CWB is a workers benefit geared to income . Ask the immigration agent where it shows it’s social assistance, since I presume they are working for you
