Is 153 day stay period for OHIP cumulative?

Hi,
I am a PR and recently got my OHIP coverage starting July 9th after the 3 month wait period.
I need to travel to my country for 3 weeks in Aug end ( which is precisely on the 142nd day since I landed in Canada or established my residency in Canada). My question:

For the 153 days in first 183 days condition, is that cumulative? Or I can come back and complete the 153 days in the first 183 days? ( Will be gone out of Canada for 3 weeks and be back before the 183 days and continue) . So just need clarification that at any time whether in a 12 month period or 183 day period those 153 days are continuous or cumulative.

I think it is cumulative as nowhere it is mentioned as 153 day continuous stay...but just wanted to clarify as it is important.

• be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province; and

Based on how it reads on the website, you need to stay in Ontario for 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residence in Ontario. The "AND" makes It mandatory. If you can't meet the 153 days within the 183 days, you would be in violation of the requirements.

If you don't meet the requirment you will have to pay back any services used under OHIP.

Rule is just saying you can't leave for more than 30 combined days in the initial 183 days. If you're just going for 3 weeks that is less than 30 days, so you have nothing to worry about.

I think I am safe as I will complete the 153 days in the 6 month period once I am back after a short 3 week absence.
